Product Information

Contaminating your primers with oily hands can sometimes lead to a hazardous load. The Lee Safety Prime eliminates the need to touch them at all, or at least until they are safely loaded into the brass and is a natural upgrade for an Lee press made after 2006 that feature the Lever Prime System (LPS). A simple click and a primer is fed and ready to seat.

Lee Auto-Disk Powder Measure Riser (Item# 114-080) is required for installation and must be purchased separately.

This will not fit a Classic Turret Press unless another bracket is used to mount it, the bracket is available from Lee Precision, their TP2699.

I recently purchased the new finely made Lee Classic Turret press. I also purchased this priming tool that mounts to the press. It did work, however, I did have and believe I will continue to have some minor problems with the system.1. The unit is or seems fragile, bending or flexing easily when handled.2. It was and continues to be somewhat difficult to open the priming tray lid or cover. It doesn't want to come off even when fully rotated it is hard to remove.3. The last 5-10 primers will not feed into the head and allow the head to actuate depositing a primer into the primer cup. I had to use a small tool to put downward pressure on the primers remaining in the feed tube to the head which would allow the remaining primers to feed properly.Overall, I loaded 50 primers into the tray and loaded the first 40 quickly with great success. The remaining primers were loaded with much more effort even removing the whole priming system 3 times to figure out the remaining primers need backpressure to function properly. If not they jammed.

I am beyond belief that Lee would make such a piece of garbage. Not only is it flimsy (as others have stated here) it is absolute garbage...even if you can get it to work, the primers do not feed out of the armThey do not tell you that you need the auto disk riser, which I agree with others here that it should be provided so as to even work with there own dies. If this small riser part is only 10.00 more, include it with the kit and charge the 10.00 for it, instead of having uninformed people searching in the dark trying to figure these things out. Matter of fact, I would not have known about the riser for the exception of calling lee, inquiring which primer feeder is for my particular press as it is not listed in the primer part description. How would I know which models have the Lever Prime System (LPS), C'mon why not list the actual models it fits? I am real disappointed with this primer feeder for sure and will be sending it back. I prefer not to handle primers by hand, but the aggravation of dealing with such cheap plastic and the aggravation of making this work with my press; I would be faster loading the press primer by hand with a lot less aggravation. This is by no means a decently built item and will not last due to the materials it is made of.C'mon Lee, get it together.

Been using this with my Lee Classic Turret, and it's a pretty sweet system. I've used the black with Winchester small pistol primers, and the white with Winchester large pistol and rifle.The Safety Prime comes with a bracket to mount to (I think) a single stage press... But the Classic Turret comes with it's own Safety Prime bracket, so the other one is a dunsel.As others pointed-out, it won't install the last few easily. When the reservoir section is empty, go ahead and refill.Switching banjos from small to large takes like ten seconds.

I like Lee Products and use them exclusively but I can place a primer in the primer arm one at a time by hand faster. (I just wear a latex glove to prevent contamination) The Safety Prime system only works as it should about 75% of the time. Was very disappointed.

Ok Im going to say something about lee that I never thought I would do. This product is (cheesy ,plastic, expensive for plastic, loose and it looks like it might break at any time. BUT! BUT! it WORKS!. It isnt fancy my friends and Id prefer something more expensive but it works. .This really speeds up that loading \touching primers problem. Also Im arthritic in my left hand so I cant use the hand primers for long.as I stated this is not the best but it does what is says PS get used to its quirks.

CHEAP, CHINTZY, NONFUNCTIONAL. Buy a hand priming system and save yourself a boatload of aggravation. Instructions are terrible and the performance of the "tool" is worse. Deserves a 0 Star rating.

Works fine with the Lee Classic Turret. You have to buy the Auto-Disk Riser separately though (only like ten bucks or so).The description says you need a mount to put it on the Lee Classic Turret Press, but the mount comes with the press itself, so if you have the press, you will have the mount. Hope that helped clear it up.

Just bought/got the Lee safety prime for my new 4-hole classic turret press. I read most of the reviews and concluded like many items you must "get it right" by trial and error. Yes, the prime is plastic and can be damaged easily, so be careful! Yes, if it isn't placed just so it can be a pain, so place it right! Yes, it can be hard to get the last primer used but with patience it can be done. I find it easy to fill and easy to use as long as I do not force it. Until now I have primed with the RCBS APS hand primer because I wanted to "feel" the primer going in so did not prime on my Pro 1000. On the classic turret press you can feel how it seats. I have been using Lee products for many years and will continue to do so as they are quality products at a reasonable price.

I bought the priming system for my Lee Classic Cast Press. Very easy to put together and get going, a bit flimsy and I was afraid of snapping some plastic piece. I get small pistol primers to work about 80% of the time. This is still better than doing it by hand. I found the primers that were a little off and not quite aligned in the primer cup on the arm, self-corrected and seated well in the primer pocket if I left them alone. I also figured out the ram needs to be about 1/2 inch from top dead center for the primer to feed better. After chasing a few primers that did not feed, I realized they fell to the right and about a foot from the linkage. So I took a trash barrel, put an old towel draped over the open barrel, and positioned it so the flying primers hit the towel and were easy to spot and reuse: no more crawling around looking on the floor. I wish it was not so finicky and cheap plastic, but it works when I do my part.

All and all, this is a great product. it does what it needs to do, just make sure you have the die riser for the turret otherwise the powder hopper will knock over this priming tool. and about the last few primers having a hard time coming out, its true but just reload it and your ready to go. This is alot better than hand priming........

It's a bit problematic, but once you find that sweet spot then you'll be set. Play around with it a bit, mine works smooth when pushed from left corner to right corner of the push dispenser. Move around the plastic piece that holds it. I have to add a washer on mine to clear a bit of height and everything works even smoother.
