Product Information

Hornady TAP ammunition is a good choice for personal defense, and is used extensively by law enforcement agencies. This due in part to the fact that the propellants used in the loading of this ammunition were engineered to minimize muzzle flash. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.

Special Note from Hornady Manufacturing:

We are making a running change to the TAP ammunition. This includes changing from Blackened Nickel Cases to Bright Silver Nickel cases. Using the Silver Nickel cases has all the advantages of Blackened Nickel and the added benefit of being able to see the cartridges more clearly in low light conditions as well as when checking for loaded chambers.

Very accurate defense ammo. 2-3" groups with a GLOCK 36 at 7-10yds. I have tried most of the major defense ammo brands, and this is the most accurate I have shot. Low muzzle flash. The black cases do feel "slicker" which is supposed to help with feeding reliability. Did I mention accurate? Do yourself a favor and try some of this stuff.

The TAP will expand perfectly time after time and you don't have to worry about hitting your target as it is very accurate. I shoot it in a Kimber Custom II and in Hi Point 45 Carbine and it never fails. No FTE, No FTF, no stove piping and never a single walk away on a deer either! I have heard that you can't use hollow points on game, well yes you can!

I can only speak to this rounds accuracy and reliability. Out of my Kimber Tactical Custom it feeds smoothly with no functioning issues. At 25 yards I have fired groups measuring a scant 1". It is the most accurate round I have fired out of the Kimber and I have tried several.

This is the ammo I carry on duty (XD45). I like the 200 gr option and it gives me crazy accuracy. Low flash powder help tremendously with muzzle flash which is a real possibility during night deployment.I never feel under gunned with this ammo, always feeds and fires reliable with the accuracy I need. And it's actually cheaper than most personal defense ammo and Hornady is legendary. A+ Perfection

Great stuff. Should feed in any .45 pistol, due to the almost-roundnose profile of the XTP bullet. Reduced muzzle flash, which is good if you ever have to defend yourself in low light - at least you won't blind yourself. The slick case coating makes extract failures a little less likely.

Proven best ammo so far in my new Springfield "loaded" model. Operated smoothly, no jams in ejection. Low flash, recoil tolerable. Had great penetration and expantion. This is my home defense load.

I love this stuff.On a good day I can put 8 shots in the same hole at 5 yards with my Sig P220.Recoil is a bit heavy as load is +P but I use this for concealed carry and definately want that first shot to count !I also use this in my Glock 21 and have never had a feed failure in either pistol.I highly recommend !

Couldn't ask for anything more. Out of a Kimber 1911 custom. Super tight groups at 25 yards. Fill acouple gallon milk jugs with water. Place a round in them at 25 yards. Performance has to be seen for yourself.
