This trigger is adjustable for pull weight, creep, and backlash. Minor fitting may be required. Instructions included. The safety is a 3 position system, safety with bolt-lock, safety without bolt-lock, and fire. The Howa 1500 action does not take advantage of the safety with bolt-lock position, therefore it is neccessary to remove the bolt-lock tab from the safety (instructions included). The overtravel adjustment screw has been eliminated, therefore the overtravel is not adjustable. If this trigger will not work with a particular style of Howa 1500, Timney will alter the trigger at no charge if the trigger is returned directly to Timney.

I received this trigger ...

I received this trigger today, and I installed it in a wood stocked, blued Weatherby Vanguard .30 06 tonight. The factory trigger wouldn't adjust below 4.75 pounds. This trigger came set up from the factory at 3 pounds, and it adjusted easily, and repeatably, over the range from 1.5 pounds to 4 pounds, as advertised.Installation and adjustment weren't difficult, however it was necessary to do some inletting to provide enough relief for the safety to function correctly. The area at the lever required slight relief. The area for the nose of the triangular link that moves with the safety lever required quite a bit of relief. I did the job with my carving chisels, and it took about 20 minutes. If I had to do another one, I think it would take less than 10 minutes.I have Jewell trigers on all of my Remington 700's, and I would have bought a Jewell for this rifle had it been available. You can see the difference in materials and manufacture between this trigger and the Jewell, however, since this trigger costs about a third of what the Jewell costs, and since it adjusts very repeatably and reliably, I think it offers an excellent value. One other comment. The overtravel screw has been removed from current stock. Overtravel is adjusted at the factory. I was satisfied with their adjustment.Overall, my impression is that this trigger is an excellent product for a rifle that will be used for hunting. Next to the Jewell, it is the nicest trigger I've tried.

I bought for a 2001 Howa 1500. I had to cut off the metal finger part of the safety piece that locks the bolt on three position safety newer models. My receiver/action does not have the recess for it. A good vice, hack saw, and file and I was able to make it work. It was worth the effort because my trigger is better, but it was not a true drop in for an older 2001 Howa 1500. I did not need to do any stock recess work as mentioned by others.

I ordered Timney trigger the howa 1500/vangaurd series rifles. Quality tigger was easy true drop in design took maybe a whole 5mins to change out orignal trigger to the new timney. I beleive the quality of this product is far higher then its price and is an excellent buy for any Howa action owner. If you can only make one upgrade to your howa rifle this should be it.

I got this trigger and I had it installed in my Howa 1500 varmint supreme in a .243. I adjusted it down to 2 pounds and the trigger is a big improvement over the factory trigger. The installation took about 10 minutes and it's very easy for anyone to do. I will purchase this trigger again if I buy another Howa.

If you have a Howa1500 with a Laminated thumbhole stock, Buy this trigger. Trigger drops right in, No stock reworking. Installed in less then 15 minutes. Big improvement over the factory trigger. Clean, crisp trigger. I recommend Timney trigger for a Howa 1500.

Installed this in my Mossberg 100ATR. It did take some work but was well worth the effort. Had to cut off the tab on the safety lever to clear the barrel. Also had to grind/file off the 'hump' at the end of the top piece. The 100ATR has a post there. Ended up installing w/o post with no problems. Once installed, trigger has no creep and is very crisp. 3lb from factory is dead on. I am very pleased and had a great time working with my buddy to install trigger.

My Mossburg 1500 was a 2 position safety and i had to cut the ear off. Not hard to do but not in the instructions. It was set to 3# and SMOOTH from the factory and i adjusted it for me. My factory trigger bounced between 4-4.5 and gritty. Just need some range time with it now. One of the best things I put on the gun.

Puchased two of these in the past for two Wby SUB MOA's; a 257 and an '06. The factory triggers were drivng me nuts, breaking up near six or so pounds (not measured, but way too stiff!). Oddly enough, with about two years between the two rifles and both having the same type and style of stock, only one needed to have the stock relieved for safety clearance, which was very minor and easy to do. The installs went smoothly, and both are now much easier to shot good groups with, not having to contend with wondering just when the trigger press will break. At the range I once had one of these sub moa's and an original Wby triggered M4 30-.378. I started shooting the moa, then grabbed the M4 and started a trigger press. I telling you, I thought the safety was on the M4 as I continued to add to the squeeze and nothing was happening! That's how much difference a good trigger like these will add to your shooting groups, not thinking about how much more pressure it's going to take before you get the trigger to break and keeping the crosshairs on target. Trust me, your best groups will be obtained when the gun "surprises" you when it goes off during the trigger press, from being both clean and light. To a shooter, a good trigger is heaven! Highly recommended.
