Hornady's GMX, or Gilding Metal eXpanding bullet gives hunters an expanding monolithic bullet that delivers ultra-flat trajectories and devastating terminal performance.

The gilding metal bullet is harder and tougher than a copper bullet and also helps to reduce fouling in the barrel. Made with the same polymer tip bullet used in Hornady's A-Max, InterBond and SST rounds.

A GMX bullet expands 1-1/2 times its original size and retains 95% of its original weight. Their boat tail design reduces bearing surface in order to increase accuracy and consistency. This is not loaded ammunition.

Works both near and far

I've now used this bullet to take two average sized whitetail does with my 257 Weatherby. One was at about 90 yards and the other at a measured 349 yards. Both were one shot kills. The 90 yard dropped on the spot. The 349 yard was a broadside standing shot. In an amazingly bit of bad luck the bullet hit squarely on the top of the mid shoulder bone (humerus?). It smashed through the bone, penetrated the rib cage and clipped the top of the heart and in another bit of bad luck it passed through the same bone on the offside leg. She took about three steps and dropped, and was certainly long gone by the time I reached her. I was impressed that the bullet still had the oomph to pass completely through even after encountering all those bones. The bullets are tough, yet still do a good job of transferring their energy to the target. Accuracy is very good as well.

Yes, they are expensive, but any bullet that performs this well at both close and long range is probably worth it.

Grouping about 5/8" from by Weatherby Mk5. Using RL-22, CCI LRM primers and OEM brass. Played around with OAL and it seems to like 3.17 best. Had a FTF last weekend and I will be switching to Federal primers to see if that helps.

I ordered two boxes and received them very fast (within two days) I am working up some loads using IMR4831 best yet 1/2" 100yds. Hybread 100V not so good 1" Groups "for me" were smaller the faster the round, to a point of course. Never Load Past Max You Are Asking For TROUBLE!

Very accurate out of my standard vanguard 257 wby. .640" group at 100 yds at 3600fps. Expands nicely and penetrates deep. Can't wait for this deer season. Also shoots very flat out to 400 yds. Seems to expand to a larger diameter than the barnes offerings with equal weight retention and less copper fouling. I enjoy not having to scrub my bore every 10 shots to keep accuracy.

This bullet is new on the market. Though I've not yet taken game with it, I've found it can be very accurate. I'm working with two 25-06's; using RL-22 at 0.030 freebore, one will shoot 0.375" at +/- 3400fps. The other rifle is not good at 30 free and is still a work in progress. Freebore testing points towards 50 or more free but current loads will go about 0.75. I should note that two boxes of GMX bullets from other sources in addition to my Midway purchase arrived labeled as 115gr not 90gr. Each bullet was weighed on my powder scale and found to be 90grs. An early release labeling glitch I'm sure.

I used this bullet for grouping data I got a .375" inch group at 100 yds. I shot a couple of coyotes, dropped them in their tracks. Over all I say this bullet is vet durable and accurate it performs above my expectations.
