I installed a Double Star ...

I installed a Double Star Lower Parts Kit into a newly-made-available S&W MP15 lower receiver. At first glance, the parts did look as though they had been soaked with gloss black paint and resembled cheap hardware from China or Taiwan. This is just the oil the parts are shipped in. Go ahead and install them, and the oil will dissipate to reveal matte charcoal and black. I did get an extra detent and spring for one of the two captive receiver pins. My biggest problem was the disconnector. It had bent during stamping, then was hardened and tempered so it couldn't be flattened. To get it to fit in the slot along the top of the receiver, a few minutes with my Dremel tool solved the problem. A 3/32" pin punch is very useful for assembling a lower receiver. A 1/8" or a 1/16" can work, but 3/32" has worked out the best in my experience. A micro sized needle nose pliers, such as a jeweler might use, can be quite helpful for handling small springs, such as those for the buffer stop plunger, bolt catch button, and the disconnector. I would buy another Double Star kit, but be aware that QC may be falling by the wayside these days since EVERYTHING related to the AR is completely hectic right now. I would anticipate some additional hand fitting because of rushed production all manufacturers are doing now. Good luck!

I put this LPK in a seekins precision lower and its a great addition. The trigger is crisp and well polished. The finish is great. I would definately suggest this LPK to anyone and I will buy this for my next project. My LPK did included an extra detent and detent spring

You would expect parts to be complete, nicely finished, lightly oiled, they were. The best thing about this kit is the trigger. The trigger was creep free, and broke at what a field trigger should (about 2 lb. heavier than I'd like). I will definitely use one for my next built. Nice touches: a spare detent and spring, and a color photo parts guide for us newbies.
With just a Wolff light trigger spring this kit will handle everything excepting competitive shooting.

Very nice lower receiver parts kit. All the parts were there and in good shape. I bought this kit because it has a very good single-stage trigger that is polished like a gunsmith would do to make it smooth. I would buy again. A good value if you intend to keep the single-stage trigger.

Had everything plus a few spare springs. I bought this kit over others because its combat trigger had good reviews. I agree, this is a nice trigger for a single stage combat trigger and mating surfaces were well polished. Will buy this kit again if they come back in stock.

Fair would be too nice. I should have returned this kit for the reasons: 1) There were two triggers and no hammer! 2) There was no bolt catch plunger! 3) The front pivot pin was out of spec! 4) There was a part included that does not go into an AR lower!The parts I did receive in this "kit" went together well and function properly. Extra springs and detents were also included. I got the missing parts locally to save time and support local business. This does not reflect on Midway. This is an issue of lack of quality control at Double Star. That is why I give it a Single Star.

Rated good, because it's the same parts kit that DPMS uses, and they should not charge Midway more money than DPMS does. Save your money and get a DPMS, or a better one is Daniel Defense. You can tell by the hammer, the better ones will have a notch cut on the hammer, and typically have a better 4-6lb trigger pull, instead of the 8-10lb by DPMS, Doublestar etc.

Functionality of this ...

Functionality of this product is good it does what its supposed to and I like the highly visible indicator line on the safety selector switch (it's a deep V shape cut not just a faint line on the outside edge of the receiver) now I'm a first time AR builder so I don't know how much my opinion counts for but since I am building two Ar's at the same time I decided to try the DPMS kit and this kit and see which I liked best for any future builds (I was dying to know if higher price meant better quality) with that said the function and feel of the two kits without a trigger pull gauge, feel exactly the same. both kits functioned and felt really good, now the anodized or blued finish on the double star kit whichever it has is not as nice and uniform as on the dpms kit I got but it does not have the casting marks like the dpms kit has so the parts underneath the coating are of better manufacturing (cosmetically) I can see scratch marks and cast lines on the dpms parts that are underneath the coating but not on the double star kit, the dpms however has a more uniform coating on them and all look to be one color without that blotchy look. So I have to say at time of purchase any future builds would be with a dpms kit because the only differences I can see are cosmetics and economical, cheaper usually wins it for me at least with such minor differences in overall quality. But this is still a good product should dpms not be available I would buy this again or should they bring the price down.
