This stuff is great. Cuts tumbling time in half over regular media. It does break down over time with use and leaves a powder, but if you put a paper towel cut in 1/4s into your bowl, it will absorb the dust. Leaves the cases POLISHED and clean, shinier than new. Cleans very well, and lasts LOTS longer than regular media. I bought one 7 pounder and tumbled thousands of cases over several years before it was all used up. If you learn to deal with the dust, it's much superior to any other media.

Leaves residue all over ...

Leaves residue all over cases. Better off using Frankford products with clean untreated media. It works 10 times better than this stuff and you won't have red dust everywhere.

Got to admit, the first time I used this media, I forgot about the tumbler and left it in the garage running all night. In the morning, my white Harley was totally covered in red dust! Now, I use it outside on the porch and don't care if it makes dust or not. I tumble the brass to clean it and this media does a wonderful job of that! I tumble the brass for 2-3 hours and it comes out very shiny!

Not the best choice for tumbling media. It leaves way to much residue on the cases inside and out. The outside residue is easy enough to wipe off but, the inside residue is difficult to remove. It is pretty messy. Another concern is is the effect it has on the loaded round. Such as increased pressures and primer performance. Another consideration is the fact that it is impregnated with Red Rouge which is a very agressive metal polish. You have to consider what it may do to your firearm.

STOP, don't waste your money. My wife bought this for me because of the lower price, but a lower price doesn't always mean a better value. this is the worst media i have ever used. It leaves red dust all over everything and it's larger size is perfect for clogging up flash holes. I had to use a drill bit to get it out. do yourself a favor spend a little more and get the Frankford instead.

Since I took up reloading just within the last year I've acquired a lot of brass that's big time tarnished. Purchased a Frankford Arsenal Tumbler and Tufnut, well I couldn't be happier. Yes there's the "red dust" everyone talks about but I didn't have any dust per say, just the residue on the cases. Taking an old sock in one hand to wipe them off and they look like unfired brass even though they've been reloaded several time. Yea, takes time to wipe them off and I may try the suggestions of others about using corncob on a second tumble but in my opinion, why bother? I'll shoot them as is and save more time and money. Worth every cent! Beside the time to wipe off the brass is a perfect time for that all important case inspection for separated heads etc.

Extremely frustrating, do not use this media unless you want to spend hours cleaning up all of your reloading equipment, and red fingerprints off every square inch of your reloading area, this stuff is not necessary and makes more work than anything else I like Lymans treated corn cob the green stuff great high shine no mess no residue just my honest opinion.

To all of you who complain about the dust I add a liquid polish compound to mine. No prob with dust. I load a 300 win mag with barns bullets and hunt from Texas to Montana and have never had a misfire or any other problem due to the dust. I size, trim, chamfer and deburr, then tumble, use case brush and wipe with a cloth and load. Then after loading I wipe again and 5 years later they still look like new, With every great product there is a little work involved. Use some polish and the dust will go away....

I give this product 2 stars as it does clean and put a high shine on my cases - usually in around 45min. to 1 1/2 hours. The red polishing compound left inside the case, and on everything the media touches, isn't acceptable. Though I haven't tried, a second cleaning with untreated corncob media might remove it. I noticed no significant dust in my small reloading room after processing 500 - 600 cases. I plan to keep this around for cleaning my Black powder cases but, I'm going back to treated corncob for smokeless.

Addding on to the other reviews, if you have the lyman tumbler with the sifter lid this stuff not only leaves dust on your brass, but covers the whole room.

It serves a purpose. I had some really dirty cases (given to me) that corn just wouldnt clean, and an hour or two in this did the trick. I did a finish run in corn to remove the red dust. I dont use it ever time, but when you need it serves a purpose.
