This DPMS AP4 AR-15 Barrel is fully chambered and ready to install on an upper receiver. The 16" M4 Contour Barrel is machined from 4140 Chrome Moly Steel and features versatile 1 in 9" Twist Rifling that is ideal for use with light- to medium-weight projectiles up to about 69 grains. The barrel's true 5.56x45mm NATO chamber and M4 feed ramps ensure reliable feeding and safe functioning with either commercial or higher pressure military surplus ammunition. The barrel is threaded 1/2"-28 for adding any compatible muzzle device and includes a factory-installed forged front sight base with bayonet lug, barrel nut, handguard cap, barrel extension and locator pin. Front sight post, detent and spring are NOT included.

Bought this barrel For a Custom build, intending to replace the gas block. Come to find out, the barrel was plated after being assembled, and the gas block wouldnt come off until I cut it off, to find that the barrel itself was not parkerized, plated, or treated in any way. A great solid barrel for an old school build, but dont buy this and expect to be able to change the Gas Block

Good barrel for the money, but heads-up that it does not include the front sight post, detent, and spring, nor the sling swivel and rivet. If you plan to replace the gas block, no problem, otherwise you'll need to buy and install these other items that I feel DPMS should have already installed.

This is an excellent barrel and everything works perfectly. The only reason that it got a three is because it comes without the front sight post even though it is advertised as coming with it. This is just a warning to those who are looking at this barrel that you also need the parts to install the front sight post. Otherwise the barrel is one of the best for the money.

Finish was excellent and fitted to my RRA upper very easily. Had to do some minor debur work on the gas tube hole in the FSB, gas tube roll pin hole, and the muzzle. Haven't fired it yet for accuracy.

This DPMS barrel assembly came as advertised but, when I tried to torque it to specifications on the upper receiver, the barrel extension came lose. This is the root cause of front sights not being in-line with rear sights on an AR/M-16. Luckily, I have a barrel extension wrench. After properly tightening the barrel extension to the upper the rifle shot well after break-in. For the money, DPMS barrels can't be beat.
