My first impression of this scope was to send it back and get the bigger 15-30x but I was pleasantly surprised to see 223 holes at 100 yards very clearly. Decided to keep the scope because I love it's very compact size.

This is a really cool concept that is geared towards hunters...a useful magnification range in a size that isn't so big that you leave it at home. I used it on an antelope hunt and at the range while preparing for the hunt. On a tripod, it has enough resolution to make out 30-caliber bullet holes in standard paper targets. In the field, the supplied hand strap works well for 10x to 15x, and 20x can be used if you steady yourself on/against something. My only gripe was that the objective lens cover wouldn't stay on, but I replaced it with a Butler Creek flip-up cap that I think is a better field solution. Bigger scopes would be better at the range, but this is a handy hunting-oriented unit that can be used at reasonable distances for range work.

I have no report on long-term durability, as I received this only a few days back.But, this is one impressive bit of kit. Very clear optics. User-friendly & simple controls. Quality attention to detail. small in size & light in weight.And the price was right.There is a reason Leupold has a good reputation on its American-made products.

This spotting scope by Leupold is the most useful and functional spotting scope I have. Because of its compact size and weight it wont be left behind with the heavier optical equipment. It has very crisp, bright and clear optics. The innovative elastic hand strap makes it useful without a tripod on ten power, and with a rest or tripod the 20 power gives you a real clear close in view of game or what ever is the object of your interest. I have used it in Montana for big game hunting with good effect. Also it has traveled with me hunting to Texas and to Canadas North West Territories. In Canada one of the Inuit guides preferred it to using his 10 power Swarovski binoculars Because he could zoom in once he spotted the game. That was his opinion. I like it in addition to a good pair of 8 power binoculars. You wont be disappointed with this Leupold product.
