This is a very good indicator for the price. I bought 3 of them. I use one of them for my run-out gauge, and I bought another two to make depth gauges for black powder cartridge reloading.I highly recommend them!

I compete in High Power rifle competitions and one of the keys to success is reloading accurate and consistent ammo. The Reading comparator allows me to accurately control shoulder bump on the case and maintain bullet seating depth.The comparator best aids when setting up the sizing die for a repeatable case shoulder bump. A consistent case shoulder depth can then be matched to the rifle's chamber, in which repeatable head spacing can be maintained.I use the comparator mounted in a Redding turret press, which allows for a quick revolving of the turret between the sizing die and comparator.After sizing 100 cases or so, I run each case through the comparator (mounted on the press) and measure each cases' shoulder depth. I hold each case to +/- .001 inch. Occasionally a case will be over the specified dimension due to brass spring back. Cases that do not meet dimension are then resized and measured.After seating 100 bullets or so, I then measure the seating depth which is controlled off the bullet ogive, rather than it's tip. Therefore allowing a very consistent seating depth relationship to the rifling. The bottom line is that the comparator is extremely fast to set up and then measure cases. I can measure a 100 cases easily within 3 or 4 minutes.I have three comparators for use in the .223, .308 and 30-06 calibers. Several thousand rounds have been checked using the comparator with no problems. The comparator has allowed me to uniformly improve the consistency of my reloads, resulting in tighter groups and better scores. You can't go wrong with this purchase!
