Product Information

Hogue Shotgun Stocks are molded from a super tough fiberglass reinforced polymer ensuring stability and accuracy. These non-slip stocks are durable, weatherproof and extremely comfortable with a standard length of pull of 14-1/4" or with a shorter 12" length of pull for small shooters or for use with body armor. The grip of the stock and the entire forend are OverMolded with soft rubber for outstanding handling even in poor conditions. Features ambidextrous palm swells and a soft recoil cushioning butt pad.

Awesome product!! I can't ...

Awesome product!! I can't imagine anything better! It feels great and works perfectly with the 6 shot side saddle from tac-star. If you take the pump slide completely off the shotgun (see owners guide), you can access the forearm retaining nut real easy. Then use the "claw" side of a hammer to remove & install the retaining nut. The "claw" side of a hammer, fits perfectly into the two retaining nut slots, and will not damage the nut, like a drift-punch will.

HOWEVER: It does not fit the remington 870 youth 20 gauge. For whaever reason, I was under the impression it was universal- it most certainly is not. I love it, but it is useless to me... oh well.

Installed Hogue forend on ...

Installed Hogue forend on older 870 Wingmaster. Used the inexpensive Baker forend wrench to remove the original forend nut. The nut was very tight and you cannot use excessive torque or the slide rails will be bent, so I used penetrating fluid and let it soak for several minutes. The nut then removed easily with minimum force. The Hogue grip fit nicely with no problems and feels good in the hand.

Good finish and quality. However, this forend did not allow the action bars on my 870 to fully cycle (creating a failure to feed by failing to extract the shells from the mag. tube). I had to Dremel the inside of the forend (to allow the action more room to fully cycle). Now, everything works perfect.

I looked at all the different forend options and Hogue came out on top again. This is the better product because it's well thought through, not just because it's inexpensive too. The rubber finish gives the shooter both the positive grip that's needed in every shooting environment, while also being designed to not get in the way of cycling the action (I've read that the rubber on these Hogue forend grips are an issue in several boards, and I have to say it's just not true. Perhaps those were previous versions, but Hogue has got it right now for sure). Also, because it is designed as a short forend, it does not get in the way of a 6-slot side saddle. Mine is working perfectly with my TacStar Industries 6-slot side-saddle.Agreeing with a few other posters here, T Clark and Kevin Black both figured out what I saw during installation. The key is to get the forend assembly off of the magazine tube (the barrel will be off at this point). Once off, you can reach inside with a pair of needle-nose pliers and the retaining nut will come right off... no need for the "required" additional tool.Thanks Hogue and thanks Midway USA!
