Front sight taper pins can often be stubborn and require a lot of force to remove. Typical pin punches often break due to the amount of force required to move the taper pins, which are put in with a hydraulic press. This starting punch has a tapered profile to withstand the necessary force. After the pin has been started out, a standard pin punch can be used to fully remove it.
