A Wonderful Finish

I bought a Tru Oil kit for putting a finish on the Claro Walnut stock of my Mauser 98 in .308W. It was easy to apply and gave a beautiful result, although it took MANY coats to satisfy me. I liked the result so much that I bought a 1 qt bottle to finish a large walnut clock case I was building. Again, the result was stunning! The only problem is that Tru-Oil tends to turn into a gel, even in a tightly sealed bottle, although 'shelf life' after opening is adequate for any reasonable project. Just don't plan on using a bottle you opened a few years ago.

I followed the directions. I applied four coats after sanding and the stock came out beautiful. I did not use any special fillers, just removed old finish and sanded. I am certainly pleased with the results and the finish appears to be as durable as any stock I have seen. I purchased the 32 oz bottle and have enough to do many, many, more stocks. I would purchase and recommend this wonderful product again.
