Product Information

An extra long release extends .550" down from the trigger guard housing allowing the shooter to reach in front of trigger guard and push down to release magazine without moving the trigger hand from the grip. Drop in fit requires no modification to the rifle. Designed to work with benchrest/sandbags situations. Also fits the Ruger 10/22 Magnum.

Compared to the last one I reviewed this one looks similar but it is different enough that the part would not fit. I liked the last one very much. The newer ones have a smooth silver finish but the one I got didn't work and I wasn't going to start grinding to make it work.

An easy DIY upgrade

I've been waiting to get this for some time now to make it eaiser to release the mag from my 10/22 rifle, especially on those chilly days when you're out plinking. Kept thinking this would be a pain to remove and install this, but actually took surprizingly less time than expected! Removed the barrel band/strap and the receiver screw and gave the retaining pin a little push with a very small flat bladed screwdriver and out came the old and in went the new. Presto, faster and eaiser mag changes! Excellent quality and simple drop in fit.

Ruger 10/22 rifles should come with extended magazine releases from the factory. It makes magazine removal infinitely easier.

This is probably the best mag release on the market and I have installed a few for other people. After installing one of these I was so impressed I got one for myself and they work great. These are drop in and do not require modification like some of the cheap plastic mag releases to work with auto bolt lock. These are a comfortable good looking release that functions perfectly on 10/22s. I would not recommend using a cheap plastic or uncomfortable steel release. These aluminum releases work well on 10/22 and AMT 25/22 rifles. You will not regret this purchase! I just criticized the Volquartzen hammer so don't think I am biased towards this company. This is just a great product.

This magazine release works great and took 15 minutes to install. Just remove 1 pin, slide the old magazine release out and insert the new one and reinsert the pin.It's easy to replace and works great. I've become very impressed with this replacement part and all of Volquartsen products that I have tried so far. It doesn't take a gunsmith to replace this part.

It was a bit of a tight fit, but it was the lower trigger casting's fault with a bur, not this parts. High quality part, and works 100% better than the way Ruger has you drop a magazine. I'd buy for all my 10/22's if I had another.

I just bought one and installed it and it makes a world of difference. I don't know why Ruger doesn't include these in the first place. There were no instructions with it which I found kind of lame, but it's not too hard to figure out. Only thing I don't like is that the slide release is hard to access. Might need to get a new one of those too.
