The Choate handle is very helpful for getting the bolt back with the fingers or the outer edge of either hand. This is truly a drop-in part; I just pulled out my old handle and inserted this one in its place. The locking detent is a little shallower and it takes less effort to dismount than the original part but I don't think this will be a problem and the hardened part is difficult to modify.

I'm not too thrilled with this part. It has a tendency to fall out occasionally from my 1100. Because the handle is hardened, you may have a difficult time modifying it enough - by deepening the detent dimple - for firm retention. You might have better luck installing a stronger detent ball spring inside the bolt, if you can find such a spring. Or maybe you can insert a shim in there somewhere, or rough up the dimple and/or detent ball. It's work you really shouldn't have to do, regardless.As long as it stays in, this part works great. "Doesn't fall off" being a major criterion for gun parts, I can't give it more than 2 stars.

Fits snugly in my Remington 11-87 Super Magnum. The larger size allows me to slide the bolt back very quickly with less pressure, and hence, less pain. All kinds of normal and emergency bolt operations are enhanced: left hand (overhand and underhand), thick glove, foot, post and furniture operations; I tried them all and they were all easier than with the stock bolt handle. I was concerned about its compatibility with the "Mesa Tactical Sureshell Saddle Mount Shotshell Ammunition Carrier 12 Gauge with 5" Picatinny Optic Rail 6-Round Remington 870, 1100, 11-87 Aluminum Matte" which I had already installed on my shotgun, due to some very old reviews stating that the saddle mount interferes with this bolt handle's range of motion. I took measurements and digital photographs of the saddle mount and sent them to Choate. After several email exchanges, Choate determined that it would fit. I went ahead and ordered it and sure enough, it is compatible with my Mesa Tactical saddle mount. One manufacturer or the other must've modified the design since those old reviews were written.

I am using this Combat Bolt handle in a Remington 11-87. When installed out of the box , the handle easily came out of the bolt. Used a dremmel tool to enlarge the slot, and it is now more secure. Appeared to be excess coating in the slot.

If your 1100 / 11-87 is set up for cosmetic reasons buy it, but if it needs to work like if your life depends on it stay away. Installs with no resistance and falls out just as easily!

My wife uses her 1100 in card shoots and the oversized handle has worked well for her. Her 1100 is equipped with scope and after several rounds with brushing the barrel and bore the handle gets a little tight, this product was the berries. For her it worked well and by the way I think it doesn't matter to her as long as she beats me.

This part is well made, snapped into place easily. Makes operation of the bolt much easier. I am going to Dremel out the detent to tighten the fit a little. Well worth the price.

Bought this item with the hope that it would be a good fit. Boy was I wrong. The handle was loose in my bolt. Real loose. I wish I would have saved my money. I tried to modify it to fit tighter but my limited skills didn't help. Save your money.

Nice, ergonomic, and comfortable to use. Easy to operate the bolt with my left hand and does not heavily obscure my line of sight. Keep under consideration that the size of this handle may interfere with a shotgun's saddle rails. Bottom line - if you don't use saddle rails, you can operate the bolt faster and comfortably using this; hence, save a little time on the reload.
