Great little tool. Sure ...

Great little tool. Sure it only has a couple of functions but it does what its supposed to do. Makes a great back scratchier for that spot you cant quite reach as well

I thought when I saw this ...

I thought when I saw this that it's probably pretty dumb, but I figured at the price, I would try it. Piece of junk. Pachmayr makes some really good stuff, but this ins't one! The end is much too thick to be of any use.

I've had better luck with ...

I've had better luck with my Widgets than other reviewers here. It works very well for installing thumb safeties and slide stops on the 1911A1, I have also used it (mostly) as a "no scratch" tool for clearing jammed lifters on lever-action rifles and other similar gun problems. I ruined the last one I had un-jamming a messed-up Marlin and the Widget was rendered unusable but it's only a $4 tool and I got a lot of use out of it. Recommended to have in your range bag, especially if you own a nicely finished custom 1911.

Seemed like a good idea ...

Seemed like a good idea but the end that is supposed to depress the plunger tube spring is too flexible to be of much use on the slide stop side. I agree with the other fellow. Use a Bic ballpoint pen cap and save yourself the money.

Not just dumb... but ...

Not just dumb... but really, really dumb. Yeah, it helps to put the thumb safety ball detent back in, but it's pointless. Chances are you have a Bic ballpoint pen within arms reach. Use the cap... it'll do the same thing and more. Not only will it install the detent spring without scratching the gun, but you can use it to remove and replace the firing pin too.I'd give it one star, but it DID do what it was supposed to do, but it didn't do it any better than the plastic cap to a ballpoint pen.
