Purchased this one to replace the stock ILS system on my Springfield Mil Spec. It was a true drop in worked great. The issue I have is that the frame on the Mil Spec along with this flat housing, a burr is created. I expected more from Springfield or a Springfield 1911.

Purchased this to replace the ILS MSH in my Springfield Champion. It features nice checkering and a good finish. It dropped in without any fitting. The only problem is that once installed, it is noticeably a tad bit short at the bottom of the frame. I exchanged mine for another one and it ended up fitting the same way. I don't know if my Springfield Frame is slightly out of spec or if Springfield makes these MSH's a tad bit short. Either way, I am happy with mine but next time I will be trying a different brand.

This was a perfect fit on my Springfield Armory GI 1911-A1. I replaced the arched ILS housing. I was told the ILS internal parts would not work so I replaced them as well. I used a Wolff 16# main spring and got a crisp 4.5# pull with an STI hammer and factory sear.

I'm kind of torn between 4 and 5 stars... remembering that it is a factory SA piece. First, it is a truly drop-in fit with my SA MC Operator, allowing me to get rid of the ILS on the mainspring housing that my pistol came with. However, there is a burr created at the bottom of the housing where it sticks out past the frame. Annoying while handling, but I do not notice it when shooting.Also, this thing came CAKED with cosmoline or something like it. As I clean all parts prior to install it was not a problem, but this thing NEEDS cleaning in the worst way when it's removed from packaging.Last, this housing is just the housing. If you are replacing the factory housing on a SA MC Operator, the only part you will need is the Mainspring Cap Pin, which for some reason was not included with the factory mainspring housing that I removed.Bottom line, it works as a factory replacement.

I like this mainspring housing. Purchased to replace a polymer one on a Kimber Custom II. I also purchased a set of internals (so I have a spare in the range bag. I'm not a fan of the SA locking system, and considering replacing another mainspring housing and will purchase this one. You should too!

Could not be happier, I replaced the plastic housing that came stock with my Kimber (I know, plastic on a $900 gun?!?!) Anyways this was a drop in fit, with no filing at all. Could not be happier with the checkering either, looks/feels perfect!

100% drop into my springfield loaded parkerized. I installed this to remove the ILS. An extra plus is this main spring housing has checkering on it, unlike my factory installed housing.

Bought this and the internal pieces for my Springfield GI to replace the raised MSH and the ILS. Great fit and good quality for a reasonable price. Took less then 10 minutes - could do it now in under 5. If you have ILS you will need the internals.
