I bought this today and put it in a DPMS varmint/target rifle. It failed miserably. It shortstroked, double chambered, and consistently failed to chamber. The mags are ones I've used before with no failure to chamber. I thought that perhaps it was a combination of the heavier buffer and heavy spring so I went back to the lighter buffer. It still failed at the same rate. I put the heavier buffer in with the factory tensioned spring, and it works perfectly again. I was trying to reduce felt recoil through manipulation of the parts, I guess you shouldn't fix what isn't broken. Consult a gunsmith before buying these. There is a use for them, but it doesn't help for mere recoil reduction. Gave it two only because of the other excellent reviews and the fact that the spring does seem to be of high quality. Be sure you NEED the heavy springs. A heavier buffer may be all you need.

Installed this spring in my 16" .450 Bushmaster and while recoil was mild to begin with, this definitely smoothed it out. I was also previously having an issue with the rifle feeding the first round in the mag when dropping the bolt, it would hang up and not close all the way. After the Wolff spring was installed it slams closed like a champ. Definitely a recommendation for the big bore AR guys.

As far as I know there aren't any ways to increase the weight of a rifle buffer like you can with the carbines(H, H2, H3) so I used this to help dampen the recoil. Worked great! Cycled all my factory ammo from weak to powerful. A noticeable reduction in felt recoil.

I bought and installed one of these in a DPMS 7.62x39 AR I built and for a long time could not figure why the gun would not cycle fully, (short stroke etc.) I finally swapped lowers with my Alexander Arms .21 Genghis Upper (5.45x39) and the 7.62 cycled fine! Suprisingly when I placed the lower with the Wolff spring under the .21 Genghis upper it also ran fine. I ended up taking the spring out of these rifles and installing it in my Oly Arms 9mm Carbine, it has worked fine in that gun and has eliminated the "twang" from it as well! All in all I am quite pleased with it, BUT... be careful what you install it in as some barrels may have a smaller gas port or something rendering them unable to cycle with this spring in it. I would Definetly recomend this spring for Pistol Caliber Carbines!

I purchased this after reading Mr. Salas' review and I agree with him completely! Installed in my Bushmaster AR-15/M4 Carbine and liked it so much I put it in all 3 of my ARs. Spring is about 1 inch longer than the stock spring and made of much heavier metal. I think it may be wound a bit tighter too. Very heavy duty spring. Bolt slams home with much more force. Reduces felt recoil also. Can't wait to try it in full auto!

Yet another excellent product from Wolff. This spring is a very inexpensive but effective way to make your AR that much better. I shoot heavy bullets (greater than 62 gr.) and with a Y-comp muzzle brake and this spring my 20" Bushmaster is like shooting a .22lr! I cannot recommend this product enough to anyone who owns a 20" AR15.

I replaced a lazy but new RRA A2 butt stock action spring with the Wolff extra power spring. The charging action requires more force, but it slaps back with more gusto.The recoil is significantly reduced to the point firing XM193 feels like firing a .17 BB gun.

As mentioned in my previous review, this spring won't work in all non-standard AR calibers but it does work exceptionally well in my Pistol Caliber AR's as well as my .50 Beowulf! Definite improvement in the felt recoil of that big bore AR! Just beware if your rifle fails to feed a new round after installing this spring it is too heavy for that particular model/caliber. Does Not work with 7.62x39 AR's! RemMax
