Although I purchased this ...

Although I purchased this product some time ago it's only been recently that I've been able to get this new chambered upper functioning. Having an upper also chamber in 7.62x39 which is the parent cartridge for the 6.5 Grendel, helped get this upper functioning. Two issues plagued this barrel/bolt from the start. First was a failure to feed reliably from magazines. Second was intermittent failure to return to battery. Both of these issues I had addressed in the 7.62x39 chambering so it was not new discoveries. I'll cover the second issue first because sometimes that will also take care of the first. The bolt extractor has two sharp edges that tend to dig into the case rim preventing the bolt from obtaining full battery position. Remedy is too use Dremel tool with sanding disc to remove and polish these sharp edges that must slip over the case rim. Now rather than dig into the case rim the extractor will slip over the rim as the cartridge is chambered which will allow the bolt to obtain full battery position. Feeding issues were corrected by bending the forward portion of the feed lips to allow the cartridge too assume a bullet high position rather than level.Last week after making the above corrections finally was able to fire a full magazine of seventeen rounds without any problems. Prior to this you might get several rounds to fire but never more than five before either a failure to feed or failure to fire as a result of not returning to battery.Concerning ammunition for this cartridge I have come to two conclusions. First is that Wolff ammunition is less than ideal or desirable use in this caliber. Second that Lapua brass which uses small rifle primers has produced better results and accuracy. My limited testing indicates that bullets weighing less than 120 grains work better. Haven't really found right bullet/powder combination yet just using existing published data which while useful is not without problems.

The reason for the 3 stars is because I got the barrel, the AR Stoner Heliport muzzle brake, and got the barrel mated to the receiver, everything was great until I went to put the muzzle brake on. It would not hand thread, but was very easy with the wrench. About 3/4 the way on, the threads froze on me. I could not get it back off, and it would not go all the way on. I am very pleased to see that Midway is working with me to send me another one, so we will see if I have the same problem. I was told by Midway USA personnel that I should run a tap and die set over the threads. I can do that, however, I don't think that I should have to machine something like this, especially when I buy the same brand brake to mate it... We will see how round 2 goes.

I had reservations about buying this barrel but it has performed flawlessly. I was also surprised to see that when I received the barrel it was marked 6.5 Grendel. I am a hunter and the accuracy has been spot on with everything I have taken a shot at. I am using 123grain AMax factory Hornady. Buy with confidence!

This is an awesome barrel. It is slick, smooth, and half inch groups with 123 lapua scenars, or hornady a-maxs, with 2520. I don't want to shoot .223 anymore. This is the one!

Make that AR shoot something worthwhile..:) installs easily and shoots 1" groups at 200s yd. Installed with an enindine hydraulic buffer for butter smooth action. I only wish they offered a 16" version..

I just finished my AR with this barrel. After barrel break in i am shooting about 3/8" groups off my tailgate at 100 yards. A friend has a Les Bear barrel for double the price and he cant out shoot me. Great barrel guys!

I decided to test the 2 that I have: a 6.5 grendel, AA barrel 18.5 inch, it shoots .4-.5 MOA and this new 264 LBC barrel. So I built the 264 LBC, 18 inch barrel from Midwayusa, shooting 123 Hornandy 6.5 Grendel ammo, it also shoots .5 MOA. Both are 1.8 twist, result is no difference. They shoot pretty much the same.

Great barrel. Easy installation. Problems occurred at the range to test fire it. The round dropped into the chamber, but the chamber didn't lock up in my AR. Had to tap the bolt open. After two tries the bolt closed and fired fine. Examined the case and the extractor hook dented the back of the case and when it finally went over it chewed big groves out of the brass. Each round did the same with the extractor hook. The radius of the hook is too small for the larger rimed 6.5 Grendel round. Accuracy is great, .6 inch group at 100 yards breaking in. Should get a lot better once broke in.

Excellent accuracy. Shoots 1/2 minute at 200 yards with no barrel break in. Some bullets have feeding issues (fail to strip, and brass scarring), but 120gr Nosler BT function fine. Bought this barrel to abuse (no break in, very little cleaning). Will update on the progress.

Ok...I finally had a chance to shoot this barrel. This barrel likes Hornady 129gr SST bullets and Accurate powder. I loaded Lapua cases with Accurate 2520, Hornady 129 gr SST bullet seated .013 off lands. Federal 205 primers...velocity was 2324 fps. Three shot group was .457" at 100 yards.Also loaded Lapua brass with Accurate 2520, fed 205 primers and Barnes 120 gr TAC-TX ML/E bullets seated .022 off lands. Velocity was 2569 fps and three shot group was .645" at 100 yards. These two loads were # 13 & #14 recipes in this barrel. I would say I have shot less than 75 rounds through this barrel. I would say it's breaking in nicely.
