Lee 2-Cavity Bullet Molds are a great choice for reloaders looking for a quality mold at an affordable price. Lee machines their mold blocks from aluminum making them rust resistant. Aluminum molds heat up and cool down faster than iron or steel molds and good bullets can usually be produced only after a few casts. In addition, aluminum blocks are one-third the weight of iron or steel mold blocks offering the bullet caster less fatigue during extended casting sessions. To ensure the best possible bullets, mold block halves are CNC machined for unmatched roundness and size control. Weights given are Lee's weights with suggested alloy; actual weight may vary due to the alloy mixture used.

Just purchased a Limited Edition 1885 Winchester High Wall. I added a 15x Unterl Super Vermit scope. I had several of these bullets I was saving for some unkown reason. They were perfect and all 402 grains and within 1/10 grain of each other after being lubed by hand. I also had cases I had fired in my 1874 Sharps. The case was not sized and luckly it fit the Winchester snugly. So I used a this single/same case and loaded it with 12 grains of Unique in front of a Winchester primer and behind a pinch of Dacron. The cast bullets were unsized and measured at .458 - .459 and pretty round. The bullets were seated into the grooves of the barrel and the charged case loaded behind the bullet. Additional charges of 12 grains of Unique powder were contained in 35 mm plastic film containers. It was a rare unwindy day here in Oklahoma. The process was slow, but the results were really great. This was not a work up load, just one I had used before. The bullet seems to really like my Winchester. Sure is nice to set at a range with an antique type rifle and an old cartridge that shot the best groups that day. All groups were a single hole and one could be less than 3/4". Not a single flyer all day. Note that all firing was done with the same case and the bullets was oriented with the mold part line in the same position. This proves to me at least that very fine accuracy can be acheived with the 45-70 if care is taken. This process is not for everyone, but the looks on the faces of those with thier modern expensive rifle owners was well worth it. However this is the way it was done before we became so lazy and just bought ready made cartridges. Easy, fun, accurate and cheap shooting but it takes determination care and time.

A favorite. Drops well round, 0.459" bullets after only 2 tries from full warm-up. I load this for 45-70 Govt and full power 458 win mag. on a ruger M77. I found a way to install gas on this bullet using my Hornady press mounted bullet puller with 0.458" collet. Insert the bottom driving band of the bullet into the puller collet about 1/8". Actuate the puller to squeeze the bullet diameter just enough to seat a .458 gas check by hand. Then crimp the gas check in place using the usual tools. With a gas check, I can fire the 405 gr lead bullet up to 2000 fps w/o leading issues. Thanks and safe shooting!

I've used this mold ...

I've used this mold (single cavity) for a few years now and am impressed with the results. It will shoot consistent sub 2" 5 shot groups out of my 1895G with velocities in the 1200 - 1400 fps range. They drop from my mold at 410 grains with wheel weights and at .459 diameter. No problems filling out the mold completely as long as it is degreased and hot. Even better now that it is a 2 cavity design.

Purchased this mold severs years ago and cast for a Browning 78 and recently a IAB TriStar 1874 Sharps. The Browning shot a single hole at 50 yards and under 2" at 100 yards. Still working on the Sharps but so far with 2/10th grain weight selection, perfect bases and only the two bottom grooves greased, sized to .458 I have sub 1" groups at 100 yards with no fliers. Anyone that thinks cast bullets can't shoot should read H.M. Pope.

The Lee molds are some of the easiest to use I have tried. This mold in particular casts the most accurate bullet I could find for my Marlin 1895G. I have shot them from 1000fps all the way to 1900fps and get consistantly good accuracy. Plus, they are aluminum so no need to worry about rust!

This mould produces great bullets for my Trapdoor and my Marlin Guide Gun. The bullets are consistent in weight and shape from cast to cast. The mould heats up quickly and never rusts! I use a .458 sizer to ensure uniformity and liquid alox for a lube. Rarely do I have leading issues.

If you don't like perfect ...

If you don't like perfect bullets, don't buy this mold. First bullet out of this was perfect, and so are the other the other 300 I've made with it. I'll never buy another iron mold again. These bullets are very accurate as well.
