The Hornady Case Activated Powder Drop is designed to work with the Hornady Lock-N-Load AP press, as well as, other progressive presses. The powder drop automatically dispenses a powder charge only when a case is present. The activator fits powder measures with standard 7/*'-14 threaded dies.

Wow awesome!!

I have a Dillon 550 that I started to do some bulk .223 on and fought and fought with the rifle powder measure to throw a repeatable charge. Cleaned it, adjusted it, did all the suggested things and still wouldn't be on. Well I have a RCBS uniflow that I know works good. Bought this linkaage, installed measure and parts, 4 adjustments later and presto, consistent throws to a tenth of a grain. Wish I would have gotten this in the first place.

I used this to adapt an old RCBS Uniflow powder measure to my Dillon RL 550B. Just remove all the dies from the tool head before installing the CAPD. After you reinstall your other dies, the CAPD can easily be swiveled, then locked down, so that it doesn't interfere with your sizer and bullet seater. This setup is much better at dispensing extruded powder than Dillon's.

Speeds up the loading process some. It works with other vendors powder measures as well. Anything that uses the standard 7/8 x 14 should work. I'm using it on a RCBS Uniflow powder measure now but suspect it would also work on the Lyman and Redding measures as well although I haven't tried those. If you buy additional lower assemblies you don't have to readjust when switching calibers. Definitely worth the price if you do a lot of reloading.

I got this CAPD mounted ...

I got this CAPD mounted on an older Hornady Deluxe Powder Measure. Works great. However, I needed to drill a 1/4" hole about 11mm away from the original slotted hole of the longest link to make the gizmo work on my Deluxe Measure. Also, the system has no positive stop so be careful when you adjust the action so that you don't over stress the metering insert as it stops at the end of its slot. Using the new powder thru expander inserts, you can open up the case mouth while adding powder- Great convenience!! Other than the above minor issues, this unit speeds up reloading on my Projector and is a thousand times better than the old powder drop system. Highly suggest you get one!!
