This is a good product that does exactly what it's designed to. It does a good job of holding both A3/A4 and A2 receivers securely while removing the barrel. No fancy gimmicks, and no grinding with the Dremel to make it work right.

O.K. product overall. the T handle on the upper receiver block broke off on the third use. I heated and remolded the upper block and reinforced it with quick steel puddy. It is now usable. Im a recreational shooter and I like working on my own guns. For me, it gets the job done. If you are a pro gunsmith, i recommend going with a higher quality product. The lower receiver block works great.

Excellent Product and value. The best upper fixture on the market. I feel that the inner support is not really necessary as you don't have to clamp it all that tight. The only reason people gave it less than five stars is for not fitting specialty uppers, even though it is clearly not intended to. I don't think that is fair. Anyway, they work perfect.

This block was a life saver. I tried to remove the barrel nut off of my Bushmaster AR15a3 without the use of the block... It didn't work to put it lightly. I almost ruined my upper when I tried to rig up some wooden blocks. I should of just spent the money to begin with and save myself a headache and bloody knuckles. It still takes a great deal of force to loosen the nut. I used a 4 inch vise and a little bit of body weight behind it and the barrel nut finally broke loose. A vice is another must; I tried having my wife stand on the block while I tried to loosen it with an armorer's wrench. That didn't work either lol, the block just opened up and lifted my wife a few inches in the air lol... I should of married a heavier woman haha. You will need a block and a vice to remove the barrel nut period!! I tried to get around it and almost ruined my upper. I now have a 13 inch free floating hand guard installed over a 16 inch barrel with a low profile gas block. The rifle looks amazing and performs even better. I get sub 1 inch groups with factory federal ammo. I was getting 1.5 -2 inches @100yards but free floating the barrel was just the ticket. I tend to pull the sling in hard when firing off hand and I don't have to worry about impact shift now. Buy this block and you will save money in the end.

This tool set will save you thousands of dollars(from breaking uppers) in repairs , it will pay for it self the 1st time you use it, it works on A1.-A2. M-4. DPMS Panther Sportical. With ths handle without the handle, with the door without the door, with forward assist with out the forward assist like one's on the DPMS Sportical. No maring no nothing! just like the factory did it, Thank You Midway USA for one more tool in my box. To me it is priceless, and I have used it 4 times, and the tool does not even have used marks on it ! it is a keeper you buy one you will not be disapointed and you can spend hundreds on these upper barrel tools, and you don't need to. Thanks Again JDW California 2011.

An absolute necessity ...

An absolute necessity when changing a barrel or adding a free float hand guard and a plus when adding a flash hider or comp. It is not wide enough to clear the shell deflector on some uppers, so care must be taken when placing the fixture into the vice so the shell deflector is not marred up on the outer tip. Otherwise it's a great tool and is worth the price even for one barrel job.

I used one of these in my regular 4 inch vise and it worked fine, No damage to receiver and nice and tight when clamped down. Works fine with both flat top and a2 receivers.

This block is great! I installed the forward assist yesterday and the block held up well! Its very sturdy and well made. My upper reciever is well protected. I am installing the barrel tomorrow and am glad I bought the action block!
