In a 26" T/C Encore using SSA brass, remington 7 1/2 primers, and a quality load of Ramshot TAC I was able to achieve 2635 feet per second and 3 shot, one inch group at 200 yards! That isn't the best part. I loaded this ammo for my step daughter, 13, who is new to shooting and hunting and she became real adept with it. This past October she harvested three animals. First, a doe mule deer at 40 yards, perfect shot and performance through the lungs. A bullet diameter entrance hole , one inch exit hole. Secondly, a doe antelope at 187 yards. The shot was a little far back, but she succombed very fast. Thirdly, a mature 4x5 buck mule deer at 75 yards that field dressed at 250 lbs. This was a quartering toward shot and the only one that the bullet didn't exit. The bullet lodged in the abnomen and couldn't be found. I couldn't have been a prouder papa. Great product for new or recoil sensitive hunters at normal hunting ranges!

I shot these bullets out of my 6.8 and killed two deer at 100 yds. both deer where through and through but the jacket fragmented and busted the guts and left a real mess. velocity is 2550. They worked great but I don't like the fragmentation in the organ cavity.

Core separates

I have to update my earlier review. My wife dropped a white tail at 120yds with this bullet from a moderate load 6.8spc. The core did seperate and I did not find the jacket. based on the damage it spun around the lung cavity like a lawn mower. The core mushroomed well and was in the far shoulder. Deer went 20ft and dropped. I think in a higher velocity cartridge this will act like a varmint round not a heavy game load. Works good for 6.8spc though.

Orderd 2 boxes of these when they became available. 5 shot group at 100 yards easy within 1" square on target, most touching or overlapping holes. Used IMR 8208 XBR powder at 29.5 g (YOU use your OWN work up). Function flawless and the only thing I did was rub down the tip a bit so that they fit in the magazine better while leaving the bullet just a little further out. Can't be beat. Really puts the 6.8 SPC2 in a class of it's own. - Vern

Good Product

So far this is the best bullet I've tried in a 6.8 carbine with a YHM barrel. My expectation was that the 110g would out perform the rest and after trying several 110g combinations I got the best accuracy with this 120g SST and IMR 8208. Follow the Hornady 8th edition recommendations for the 110g less 10%. CFE also works well for this cartridge/bullet, but I haven't found published data. I also used this bullet in 270WSM loaded shallow and decided it was worthy of further powder testing. I think the fat ogive works better than the VMAX and Accubond in the 6.8spc chamber.

Bullet out performs all ...

Bullet out performs all other 6.8mm spc bullets used to date to include accubonds 100 and 110, Barnes 95TTSX and 110 TTSX and Sierra 110 Prohunters. However the Sierras had shot the most accurate to date and took 3 deer with them last season. These 120SST shoots more accurate, i.e. sub moa at 100 and 200 yrds all the time. Water jug testing at both 100 and 200 yrds is outstanding. Shooting with a Stagarms 7 upper on a RRA lower. Chrono with 10X at 2515fps.

I have had good results fron these bullets from a Stag 6.8 SPC 7HL (20in) and in a Bison 6.8 SPC (16in). Loaded over H4198, SSA brass, and CCI SRM primers, I get MOA/SubMOA at 100 yards. My son just shot a Texas boar behind shoulder in a quartering shot, and had complete pass through (bullet was about 2550fps), at 94 yards. Exit was the size of a quarter, and ribs were broke on entry and exit. That said the hog was around 115 pounds.

8-point white tail shot at 238 yards from scoped AR-15 in 6.8 Rem SPC with 16" barrel. Broadside high shoulder shot with complete pass through. He dropped in his tracks. Small entry wound, exit wound was about half-dollar sized. This will remain my 6.8mm hunting bullet.

Got these for shooting hogs. The 95 grain Barnes TTSX works great, but is pricey. The 110gr Sierra pro hunter was not knocking them down. So far these 120sst's have been accurate and anchor the hogs. Great performance good price.
