I have a new Thompson ...

I have a new Thompson inline rifle. With the sabots it would shoot a 4 inch group at 100 yards. With these bullets it will shoot a 1.5 inch group.

I was convinced to buy ...

I was convinced to buy these bullets by the store clerk. He told me that they were the best bullets out there. I shot them and I got acceptable accuracy, however the achieved accuracy was nothing like I can get with sabots. I took the bullets home and I put them across the scale and I found that they varied three grains from bullet to bullet. This explained part of the accuracy problem. The season was nearing and I did not have enough time to develop a new load. That season I shot a deer and the Powerbelt fragmented into several pieces, making the job of cleaning the deer very difficult. Although these bullets may be easy loading, they are over-priced for a bullet that varies in weight by that much, has poor ballistic integrity, and horrible terminal performance. I would not recommend these bullets to anyone, especially when, for the same price, you can get high quality saboted bullets.

I don`t see how anyone could not like the 295 gr. power belt, they are the best I have ever shot. I use a Knight in line and I have taken several deer from 20 yards out to 175 yards. If the deer did not drop within 20 yards I did not do my job!!! Not the bullets fault. I say try them and you will like them. Bottom line this is the only bullet I use.

If you want to kill deer ...

If you want to kill deer quickly and cleanly, this is not your bullet. I was a little apprehensive about using a bullet made out of pure, soft lead with a massive hollow point. Turns out my feeling was right. I shot a nice buck that tipped the scales around 200 pounds and had terrible bullet performance from these projectiles. The first shot struck the shoulder, hit bone and came apart. The trajectory of the bullet placed it through the front part of the shoulder and into the spine as the deer walked with his head down. At the shot the deer went down, but not for long. I shot one more time from the stand attempting to anchor the buck. The second shot hit neck....but didn't come out, as I later noted. I loaded again, stalked up to the deer, his chest still heaving, and put a shot into the spine at 5 yards. If I had been using nearly any other bullet on the market, I would have dropped him for good on the first shot and he wouldn't have needlessly suffered. I recovered a flattened piece of lead on the near side of the spine. It had penetrated 4-5'' before stopping. I believe I would have had better luck with a .22 long rifle! I would reserve these bullets for target shooting or coyote hunting. The manufactured could easily fix the problems with over-expansion by getting rid of the hollow point, and perhaps using a 1% antimony alloy. I am appalled that this bullet is marketed for big game hunting.

I have shot these bullets for years now. I have taken several deer with them. Every deer fell where I shot them except one and he ran approximately 30 yards leaving a great blood trail. I highly recommend these powerbelts.

I used these to take a 7 point ky whitetail. The shot was around 60 yards quartering away. Bullet struck last 2 ribs and took out both lungs and clipped heart then lodged under opposite shoulder blade. The deer ran 50 yards and fell deader than a hammer. Bullet retained 75% of its weight.

I had almost given up on ...

I had almost given up on my inline until I tried these. With sabots, I had to clean after each shot to get any kind of group. I tried these, and my groups stayed tight for 9 shots. I am not sure it may have been me on the tenth shot, but it is nice to know I can shoot more than 2 in a row and have them fly the way they should. I did have trouble grouping shots when using 3 triple 7 pellets. I picked up my rifle to give it the preseason workout at the range, and still slinging good groups. I had a beautiful broadside shot on a doe last year with these, and the performance was great. I liked it so much, I took the inline back out for regular rifle season, sad to say I didn't have a chance to use it. I will never use anything else in my muzzleloaders.

I shot a medium size ...

I shot a medium size white tail using the 295 grain powerbelt. Very good accuracy obtained with the bullet, however the in hole was approx 4 inches diameter in the rib cage area from an inside view after cleaning with no exit wound. I would advise using the larger grain size with big game because it appears the bullet does not maintain its integrity. Fragments of bullet obtained under hide on exit side. I'm shooting 150 grains pellet. I like the ease of use the powerbelt offers.

I tried these after I had poor accuracy and performance with the 245 Gr powerbelts. These are quite accurate in my Encore, much better than the 245 gr. Then I shot a nice doe with these 295 grainers and this bullet broke into many pieces, just like the 245 grainers did. I should have known better. I'm done with Powerbelts as they are junk.

I have fired these from a Knight in-line and an NEF break action muzzle loader. I used 100 grs of Pyrodex in both rifles. The shot groups at 25 yards were as good as 1 inch, or better. At 100 yards the shot groups were 2-2 1/2 inches. I have used other brands with really poor groups, but these have been very good bullets for tightening my shot groups.
