The Remington Model 365 Silica Gel Dessicant Dehumidifier is a compact unit attracts and holds moisture through water crystal technology to protect gun safes and cabinets. This unit will protect for 30-60 days before recharging is necessary. This self-contained unit requires no wiring and no extension cords. The indicator window lets you know when to recharge the unit. The unit recharges easily in only a few hours by plugging it into any standard 110v household wall socket.

I bought this dehumidifer a month ago and Silica Gel is still blue.It works great and I would buy another one.My wife wants one now for her closet... I don't know if it will work in a room that big? But it does wonderful in my 30 cu. ft. safe... I live in South Florida, so if it works for me it should work for anyone!

My experience was after fully recharging the unit I placed it into my small Stackon safe for long guns and my humidity gauge read 52%. After 24 hours with this dehumidifier in the safe the humidity dropped 1% to 51% relative humidity. I would not buy another one of these units.

I think this product works great in conjunction with a heating rod. I live in a humid, ocean-air environment, and with my safe, I usually have to recharge this every 3-4 weeks. My humidity probe does show a noticeable drop in humidity and temperature increase (from the heating rod). Recharges with great ease and convenience.

Perhaps my Remington ...

Perhaps my Remington dehumidifier helps with something, but I checked it with a humidity gauge, and I cannot see a meaningful difference between the measured humidity inside my safe with the Remington and the humidity outside my safe.

Just too much hassle ...

Just too much hassle recharging these units. When you plug it into the electrical outlet where the two prongs are side by side, like most all plugs are inserted into an wall electrical outlet, the weight of the unit will often cause the unit to fall out of the socket, hitting the floor, or table or whatever is under it.They only last about 7-10 days for me before the desiccant beads are pink and the unit needs to be refreshed. It takes more than 12 hours to refresh. I've never had a rust problem in my gun room because it is air conditioned which dries the air anyway. If I plan on an extended trip, say for more than 10 days, this thing is useless about day 11 as it is now holding moisture, not collecting it.I have had better luck with just opening the door to the safe when the A/C is on and drying the air and then let the dry air circulate into the safe. This only takes maybe 20-30 minutes to do, then close the safe and seal it. I think Id much rather spend the $ on something less attention intensive and just keep the dry air flowing into the safe.

I had two of these in my ...

I had two of these in my 30 cu.ft. safe for a few months. I know that they are working because of the change in color of the desiccant beads. The safe is in my office that has central heating and air that is always on one or the other. The units are easy to recharge by plugging them in over night (approx 12 hrs) to restore. The only thing that I don't like is that the units need recharging after only a week. The package says 30-60 days between recharge but not for me. I just can't see how being inside the house with a consent temperature of 74 degrees could have that much moisture. I don't have any problems with mold of rust as of yet and never have in the 12 years of having the safe with plain desiccant packs in it. I just got a 12 inch goldenrod to replace the units because of getting tired of recharging every week or so. The unit may be just what you need if you don't have electrical access for your application or don't mind recharging often. They just were not as long lasting as i had hoped for.

What a great product. This makes it so much easier to use Silica Gel Desiccant. I have a couple of these in my safe since they only protect a small area and they work great. No more dealing with hot containers out of the oven before they start to adsorb water.
