I have a an old WWII military firearm a VZ24 Mauser which always had a dark bore. No matter what I used, CLP, Hope's #9, Sweets and other various products, the bore always looked "dark". I then used Remington Bore Cleaner. After the first pass, the amount of crud that came out was utterly amazing! I would run a tight fitting patch with the cleaner two to three times down the barrel. I then used a nylon bristle brush and swabbed the bore ten strokes. I would then follow up with clean patches to remove the cleaner. and then a patch wrapped around the brush. I would then run a oil patch a few times, then a dry patch. I completed this cycle four times. By the time I was finished, the bore was bright and shinny! I used well over 100 patches, but seeing the difference it was well worth it. I recommend this to anyone serious about getting their bores in their firearms clean.

Bought some cheap reloads ...

Bought some cheap reloads at a gun show and my Blackhawk barrel had so much lead it looked like icing on a cake. Tried several other products, then this. If you want your barrel CLEAN, use this. I use it with a bronze brush. Scrub with brush, push a patch through, then brush with this some more. At first it will feel gritty, but after many back and forth scrub strokes, it will feel silky smooth. I tried some solvents that were supposed to remove everyting. The patches came out clean, then I scrubbed with this. Amazing how much crud the other cleaners left behind. Shake well before use and use a muzzle guard to make sure the guide rod does not rub the barrel. Awesome product.

Remington 40-X and JB ...

Remington 40-X and JB Bore Paste are my "go to" bore cleaners for new firearms and for occasional ultra deep cleaning that Hoppe's Elite Gun Cleaner has a hard time getting out. Use JB on a really dirty and neglected firearm, which is a major reason firearms get sold when accuracy falls off and normal cleaners don't get the job done. Remington 40-X is a milder abrasive and easier to use for more routine maintenance. Hoppe's Elite Gun Cleaner will reduce future fouling and is good for carbon fouling removal. I bought a used CZ 527 with scope rings and Harris bipod for very reasonable price. Bore was dirty and neglected. After bore cleanup and working up a good load, it shot a 7/8" group at 200 yards with Hornady 40-grain V-Max and Accurate 2520. Time and again you can make neglected firearms shoot like new ones.......or maybe better than new ones. Polishing the bore of a new rifle with 40-X before and during break-in increases accuracy in every instance. If the bore is really rough, start out with JB Bore Paste. Really amazing stuff, all three products I mentioned.

Wonderful stuff I have used for years. Has the same color as JB - appears to be the same chemical (mild abrasive) but in a liquid form and works just as well. About a dozen passes with either a tight patch or a nylon brush and a patch or 2 of Rem Oil behind it and done! Highly recommend.

This will reduce your cleaning time after you get your bore clean, it took awhile to get the bore really clean the first time. Which told me the bore looked clean but really wasn't. The bore feels polished and requires much less time and number of patches to clean your bore the next time you clean your firearm. I was told by other skeet shooters about the product and tried it and instead of 30 min. of scrubbing and 20 patches I can get the bore clean in 5 min. and 3 or 4 patches. Clean the bore until the bore feels smooth with no rough spots as the patch cleans the bore. I recommend this product.

I have tried every bore cleaner out there. If a guy had only two things to oil and clean a rifle it would be this and Breakfree CLP. First run a patch of CLP down the bore to clean out the loose crud. Then put this stuff in and scrub for a few minutes. The barrel will come out super clean with a bright shine. Then run a patch of CLP through it to store it and to combat rust. Sweets 7.62, Hoppes, Butches, no one makes a better bore cleaner than this stuff. Nobody.

OK, This stuff works!! I have used it to clean bores, but what it really does best is polish the bore for amazing accuracy. First I clean the bore with a good bore solvent. Dry it, then I use a brass bore brush of the appropriate bore size and wrap a gun patch around it. Soak the patch and brush in the Remington bore cleaner (its nice and pasty like) and run it down the bore and back a BUNCH of times. Try to do it from the breech end. Even when you think you have a clean bore, try this and you will be amazed how much dirt and fouling you can get out. It takes a lot of patches and elbow grease, but well worth it. Accuracy increased in all the firearms I have done this to.

Cleaning a 22-250 that ...

Cleaning a 22-250 that has 400 rounds of WIN 4000FPS rounds through it. The gentleman that owns it had been remiss in his cleaning duties. The inside of the barrel looked the exact same color as the outside of a copper plated bullet.I spent ten hours cleaning with ammonia based solvents. Some "extreme" types that are supposed to remove copper easily. After all that work I had half of it out, but was all out of patience.I hit my local store and the competitive shooter that runs it told me to use this stuff.I followed the directions, and 20 cycles of the bore brush/patch later the barrel was clean! (about 30 minutes)I had scrubbed, and did everything I could do for 10 hours and the first pull through the bore using this stuff brought out a BLACK brush/patch. Like I had never even touched it.The inside of the barrel shines like a mirror now, and the rifle's a tack driver again.

This is the only other bore cleaner besides Hoppes #9 to grace my cleaning bench. I clean my rifles regularly with #9, then every 200 rounds or so, I give them a good scrubbing with RBC. RBC works through mechanical action as opposed to a purely liquid solvent. This is the same idea as JB Paste/Kroil Oil (which has been used by bench rest shooters for years) RBC is just more convenient to use. After a good scrubbing with RBC, take a dry patch and push it down the bore. Youll be amazed how much smoother it is. No tight spots, no copper streaks on the lands, just smooth and consistent. A very good product. TIPS: Make sure you shake it up good, and Parker-Hale style jags work best. Also, be sure you thoroughly clean the chamber and locking lug area after use. Will work on the coating of your cleaning rod too, so make sure your bore guide is properly sized and they dont rub together.
