DO NOT buy this extension ...

DO NOT buy this extension if you think it will fit a 1958 Marlin 336RC. It does not. It will not. I would have given it zero stars but the rating will not allow it.

1957 Marlin 336SC ...

1957 Marlin 336SC (UPDATE: see previous comments about old style hammer): After about 60 minutes with a small hand file and micrometer, the hammer extension now fits the old style hammer on my 57 Marlin. Fired 40 rounds at the range and not a single problem, set screw didnt budge. A little extra work to install, but the final result is worth it.

1957 Marlin 336SC - it ...

1957 Marlin 336SC - it seems I have an "old style" hammer on my 57' Marlin. This hammer extension does not fit... cannot comment on anything else since I can't use it. I could replace the hammer with the "newer style", not sure this is something I want to do. Just something you may not be aware of, I obviously wasnt. I'm guessing this shouldn't be an issue with any other manufacturing year.

I gave this product, ...

I gave this product, actually a part of the Bushnell Company, one star because the Midway system would not let me assess them lower. The Hammer Extension is a simple looking device and should be simple to install. However, Uncle Mike sent me an undersized Allen wrench. The tap would turn into the threaded hole of the extension a turn or two and then start turning freely within the hex hole. I called Midway and they sent me a new one. It had the same problem. I called Uncle Mike (Bushnell) and they wanted to see the device(s). I mailed them to UM at my own expense and my time. They returned the two extensions about 6 weeks later with the following explanation: "The problem turns out to be the wrong size Allen wrench. When 1/16 " Allen was used the screws turned in just fine." They further explained that they had no 1/16 inch Allen to send but if I can find one the extension should be able to be installed. Their GOOD news was they "notified a supervisor and the problem is being corrected up the line." MEANWHILE I spent $12 (including shipping) on a hammer extension, got a new one with same problem, Spent money to send to Uncle Mike, and was told to buy a proper size Allen wrench. To buy an Allen set with a 1/16 wrench will be about $15. In summary I have spent 3X the original cost, wasted 2-3 months and still have NO SOLUTION.

Fits snug and tightens ...

Fits snug and tightens down nice with no risk of stripping the screw. I have fired 50+ rounds though my Marlin 30-30 without the extention coming off or getting loose. I did use some lock tight to ensure this though.

Received Hammer extention ...

Received Hammer extention in the mail, opened the gun vault, took my marlin into the garage, put on the hammer extention, checked the operation, put the gun back in the vault, all in 10 minutes. Fit Perfectly.
