Product Information

Conversion to 22 Long Rifle is quick and simple with no fitting required. The barrel is machined from a Shilen blank, and the slide is made from 7075 aluminum with a hardened-steel breech insert to avoid any steel-to-aluminum contact. Aluminum parts are anodized and steel parts are blued for corrosion resistance. Includes one 10-round magazine and a foam-padded, soft-side nylon case.

Great product, but I am ...

Great product, but I am only giving it 4/5 because I had to file the slide stop a small amount to get it to fit past the plunger on my Colt series 80 frame. Other than that it is extremely well made. At the range I shot the CCI Mini-Mags that are recommended in the instruction manual, and had 1/200 failure to feed, and about 5/200 that didn't fire with enough oomph to cycle the slide. The other 195 rounds went off without a hitch. The accuracy of this thing is amazing right out of the box, even with the sights that move with the slide. At 20 feet I can blow out the entire X circle with one magazine!

This is an excellent ...

This is an excellent unit. I have used it on a WWII 1911A1 .45 and on an 80 series Colt Government Model in .38 Super. It installed on both pistols with no problems. Accuracy and functioning on both guns was excellent...1 3/4 inch groups at 25 yards with zero malfunctions. Windage adjustment did have to be changed from gun to gun. Elevation adjustment was dead on right out of the box for both pistols. The only disappointment was the polymer magazine that came with the kit is not what is pictured on the web site. I would highly recommend this unit for anyone with a 1911 for inexpensive practice.

There seems to be a some ...

There seems to be a some confusion concerning the Unit1 and Unit2. This rating is for the Unit2 - the sights move with the slide and are not attached to the barrel but rather to the slide.I have used my Unit2 on a Colt Series 70, Series 80, and Llama frame. When fed the recommended ammo (CCI Mini-Mag) it functioned perfectly on all of the frames. The Unit2 is NOT for "paper punchers" as its accuracy does depend on slide/frame fit, and the slide is rather "generous" (it has to be) with its tolerances. I'm sure some would call the Unit2 conversion an "expensive plinker", but it does help teach trigger control, etc., on the same frame that will be used "for real".I feel that the sights are a bit wide (even for a plinker), and I believe that a lighter recoil spring would allow the use of standard velocity rounds. It would be nice if one were furnished. The Unit2 I received appears to have a cosmetic blemish near the barrel cut for the extractor, but this may be normal due to the manufacturing/bluing process.Bottom line: It works when directions are followed. Kimber Mags worked 100% in all frames tested, and are easier to load than the Marvel - but will not "drop out" when the release is pushed. It's nice to own both.

In the first 100 rounds ...

In the first 100 rounds the slide would not strip a round about one in eight shots. After the intial range trip, I disassembled, cleaned and lubed. Two more trips with about 250 rounds per trip with zero malfunctions (did not clean between trips). Works with CCI Mini-Mag, R-P Thunderbolt, R-P Golden bulk pack, W-W Super-X and even the non-recommended Fed Hi-Power. On the third trip I fired five rounds from the bench; no rest, just the bench. Group measured just under 0.8". Excellent value, IMO.

Just received my Marvel ...

Just received my Marvel 22 Conversion unit #2. 200rds plus through the unit without a problem. A++++ from putting on an Essex lower to cleaning. Consistent 1 to 1.5 groups with the recommended CCI ammo, offhand at 15 yds using bi-focals. The Kimber mags I ordered worked as well as the factory and maybe easier to load, plus being cheaper. Great products keep up the quality workmanship. My friend was so impressed he is going to order one. Thanks Midway for another great product as usual, along with great customer service and shipping.

I bought this after ...

I bought this after looking at the other conversions out there and researching which one had the most positive following. Also, the Marvel is the only one that says it will fit 'any' 1911 frame - which was the deal sealer, as the kit has to go on a Colt Delta Elite 10mm Auto. The fit and finish are great, it fits the frame perfectly, and when fed the right ammo, it functions great. Marvel's instructions say that it might work with a number of brands, but there is also a sheet included that says which ammo that unit was tested with - and now that it is broken-in, mine works perfect with that ammo. The other ammo brands Marvel says might work, only work 50%. So follow their directions! I've shot about 500 rounds through it, have yet to clean it and it keeps getting better. The Colt Ace magazine that was included works great. I tried two Kimber magazines, but they do not put the rounds in the right place to be fed in the Delta Elite frame.

This kit installs in a ...

This kit installs in a heartbeat...just remove your.45 barrel/slide assembly and slide the Marvel assembly onto the frame, insert the locking pin and tighten up the spring guide rod with their supplied wrench and you are ready to go. After the first time; should take only about 30 sec from beginning to end! Taking it apart for cleaning is just as fast, though took me a couple of tries the first time to get the recoil spring compressed along the guide rod while lining up the threads to screw the rod back in, but got the hang of it real quick. It is very accurate, sorry did not try rest shooting but it easily shot with my .45 barrel and slide...probably better. Was very nice to practice with since the recoil and muzzle blast are kittens compared to the big bore. And at something like ten rounds for the cost of one, you could shoot all day and still go out for dinner.My gun is a series 80 1911 so if you are wondering if it works around that firing pin safety, yes it does.It is a little particular about what ammo you use and they packed a slip giving three types recommended. I think all these kits have a preferred diet, but they are all commonly available so that is not an issue to me. I tried using some Remington Bobcats at first because I had a lot of them, but forget that! Only one in five would cycle the slide properly and load the next round, though two other Remington loads are recommended..Cyclones and Thunderbolts. When I switched to CCI Stingers (another recommended) all problems went away with the exception of one stovepipe early on. The last 150 rounds were flawless and I even threw a few unknown mixed rounds in there with no hitches. Fit and finish are very good and there has been no problem with the guide rod trying to loosen up in use, so far. If that happens a little of the right loc-tite will stop that.The only downer is the need to count rounds since it does not lock open on the last shot (so the aluminum slide notch will not w
