Lee 2-Cavity Bullet Molds are a great choice for reloaders looking for a quality mold at an affordable price. Lee machines their mold blocks from aluminum making them rust resistant. Aluminum molds heat up and cool down faster than iron or steel molds and good bullets can usually be produced only after a few casts. In addition, aluminum blocks are one-third the weight of iron or steel mold blocks offering the bullet caster less fatigue during extended casting sessions. To ensure the best possible bullets, mold block halves are CNC machined for unmatched roundness and size control. Weights given are Lee's weights with suggested alloy; actual weight may vary due to the alloy mixture used.

This was my Second Lee ...

This was my Second Lee Mold ever purchased. I needed a heavy bullet for IHMSA Silhouette in my 32-20 Contender. I shoot a max load of W296, sized to .309 with a Lee size die of course. Shoots great and with the Gas Check. , ZERO lead. I decided this mold was 5 star when the first time through the coarse I shot a score equal to the best score with a jacketed bullet EVER !! Will continue my business with Lee for a long time !

This was my first mold. I have successfully cast hundreds of great bullets with this without any problems. If you follow the instructions you will get the same results I have been getting for the last few years. The LEE reloading manuals are also very helpful. In my .308 Winchester and .30-06, they make great practice rounds for the off season to keep me on target inexpensively, and the accuracy is great. You can load reduced loads for hours of shooting without spending much on powder and you shoulder won't hate you in the morning.

What great products! ...

What great products! Kudos to Lee! I am now the happy owner of almost all of Lee's 309 molds plus some other calibers, and the results beat out anything I've tried to do with the much more expensive molds. I cast linotype or near to it setting my Lee pot on no more than '3' and the bullets just drop right out when I open the blocks. With different alloys, I start low in the temp and work up slowly to see what pours the easiest. These molds also fit the pour spout on the pot exactly so the sprue ends up virtually non-existent with no negative impact on the casting and with aluminum blocks the temp stays really constant. Another trick to getting things to release real easy from the mold, is after cleaning the new mold with odorless mineral spirits, I smoke them with a small, cheap birthday candle- they seem to provide the best soot coating and it's easy to direct the flame. I've also found that after cutting the sprue, just begin to open the mold and then tap the hinge bolt- then open the mold all the way and they'll just drop right out. Unnecessarily higher casting temps also seemed to make things 'sticky-er'. I really recommend these molds and the Lee products for the beginning caster like myself.

I'm giving this ...

I'm giving this mold/bullet design 5 stars because it Works! I've been using this bullet in a Marlin 336CB and a Winchester 94 with excellent accuracy. (Single load only in tubular magazines!!) I use straight wheel weight metal and a .311" sizer die. The .311" sizer die leaves the bullet as cast diameter but allows a convenient way to lube the bullet and seat the gas check. By using bullets made this way, and IMR 4759 powder, I've been getting accuracy that is equal to, and often better than, the best jacketed bullet loads in these two rifles. As with all aluminum molds, you will need to smoke the cavities to produce good bullets.

Excellent mold for the ...

Excellent mold for the price. Good value. (Midway USA service makes it even better!). Using straight wheel weight this mold drops .311" bullets at 154 grains for me. Sized, gas checked, and lubed they top out at 159 grains. Round within less than .001" as they are dropped from the mold. Like every Lee mold I have ever owned, this one benefited from time spend cleaning burrs and rough edges. Once that is done, and smoked with a kitchen match, the bullets drop free with a light tap on the hinge. The shank takes a gas check tightly, and the bullet sizes well.

This is a pretty good ...

This is a pretty good shooting bullet in a wide range of .30 cal rifles. This particular mold took a bit to get casting well. It came very roughly finished, and took a bit of elbow grease to clean up the rough edges and clean up the spruce plate hole.After I got the mold cleaned up and honed out the nose a bit to even it out, this mold drops terrific bullets. I was very disappointed initially with the QC of Lee, but the low price and tight groups have changed my mind a bit. My mold drops at .3115 and 156 gr with straight ww's. 161.5 gr lubed and checked. It sizes very easily. This is a good shooter, and has earned a spot in my mold battery.

I have used three of the ...

I have used three of the 67.185.151.76 mold. I noticed the last review was some years ago. I think Lee mold quality has slipped a gear. I cast a thousand or so bullets from the first mold, before it broke. one of the horizontal roller bearings went into the mold to far and fell out. It fell out with each opening of the mold. I managed to peen the channel so it would not go in to far, and ordered a spare, in case this mold failed again. The spare arrived and after just 8 pours, the mold/handle roller bearing fell out of one mold half. From then on gravity would cause the bearing to fall out, and the mold was returned to Midway for a replacement. The replacement arrived a week later, and upon inspecting the mold, there were huge burrs in the sprue holes that prevented the sprue from being easily ejected and the burrs were badly scratching the top of the mold block. I cleaned this up the best I could and made 10 pours, when the mold/handle roller bearing fell out. Besides this, one of the cavities has a bad defect that hinders bullet drop out. I peened around the roller bearing hole, until the bearing stays in, but the bullet drop from the forward cavity is very difficult still. Again, I think Lee mold quality really needs an upgrade. I've ordered an RCBS mold to replace the Lee's. I will say one thing good about the Lee mold, they shoot very good in both my Garands, and FN-49.-Jim
