Provides a large beveled opening for super-fast magazine changes without adding unnecessary bulk to your handgun. Manufactured from solid steel to provide a durable and attractive addition to your 1911. Attaches to the grip screw bushings and is held in place by the grip panels. No frame modification is required, but slight modification to the grip panel may be necessary unless relieved grips are used.

Adding the Wilson ...

Adding the Wilson magazine well to my old 1911 required removing the lanyard ring and honing the bottom of the frame and mainspring housing down flat to get the mag-well to fit tight enough for the hooks to go over the grip screw bushings properly. My rubber grips needed no modification; I like that they are pressing the mag-well's ears tight against the frame. Be warned that only some magazines will work with this part. On seven and eight round magazines the base pads must be tapered on the sides and not cover the back of the magazine or the magazine will not insert far enough to latch. On ten round magazines with high base pads, the base pad (or adapter sleeve on Pro-Mags) has enough material that can be removed from the sides and back to make them work. McCormick magazines will work as is with a good seating thump but they are tight. Ten round magazines with a limiting lip on the front of the magazine body (Wilson) will work without modifications. Ten round magazines with a limiting lip on the back of the magazine body (Mec-Gar) will not work. With careful magazine selection this is a worthwhile accessory. If I were doing it again, I would buy a mag-well that includes the mainspring housing instead of modifying my original housing.

First of all, they put a glossy finish on the outside of the well. Even if there wasn't a 1/16" gap between the well and the bottom of my Kimber frame, it looks terrible. Yep, the "ears" are just a bit too close together to allow the well and the frame to fit flush. I trust Wilson though, so maybe I'm missing something... I say a MSH with magwell is a better choice.

I own this product and had it on my Spartan 4 9mm commander. Loved it. The clips I used were kimber clips with butt plates I put on them from Kimber. This magwell worked flawlessly and required no modification. I heard that someone said they had problems using this product with Mecgar Magazines. I owned 2 Mecgar Magazines and had no problem using them with this product. My only complaint was the Mecgar Magazines were not drilled and tapped to put base pads on. I'm hoping to put this Magwell on my Spartan 3 Officer I just ordered and run Kimber or Metalform magazines with base pads though it. I'd recommend this product it makes a quality well made magwell for a cheap price. Though if you want something that's going to be top notch I'd recommend replacing your whole mainspring housing and getting a magwell that has the attached mainspring housing on it. It'll look alot better and be alot more durable, etc etc.

Fit 1911 perfect.. Sits well with the hogue grips. Black matched pistol like it was made for it with a 2 minute install and I don't see any fumbling around in the field with mag changes. I tried 3 different mags in it..8 rd 10 rd and 11 round all a perfect fit and function..

I ordered one of these Wilson Combat Custom Magazine Well 1911 (Blue) from Wilson Combat but they were out of stock so I turned to Midway USA and ordered it, and IT WAS IN STOCK. From Wilson the cost of shipping was going to be near $5.00 via UPS, but the cost from Midway USA was under $2.00, and it was sent in a padded envelope via First Class Mail. My parts I ordered were in my mailbox in 2 days, UPS Ground was going to take a week! When I received the part the "ears" were slightly bent in but with a little work it fit. Then I had to use the dremel to take a little off the back side of the grips. It looks really good and it helps me with faster reloads. GREAT PRODUCT, GREAT SHIPPING AND SHIPPING PRICES, and the best thing: IT WAS IN STOCK !!

I have now purchased and installed 2 of these on both of my Colt Mk IV series 70's, excellent fit out of the package. With Pachmayer rubberized grips no grip modifications were necessary. I had previously flared the mag wells on the frames and these match and enhance the flaring I did. A plus is these will not break off like mag wells attached to the mainspring housing. I shoot USPSA, IDPA, IPSC, and these have really improved reloads. Great value and the finish and quality are excellent.

This fits and looks very good on my 1911. However, it is a VERY tight fit. Not tight enough to scratch the frame, but tight enough to keep you from taking it off every time you break down the gun.

I just purchase the Wilson speed-chute mag well for my RIA 1911 38 Super. I didn't realized from the pictures that you will need to remove these mag adapters when you remove the mainspring housing. With that said, this product gives you a relativel inexpensive means to review your 1911 pistol with a modified mag well. This product fits well with patient bending of the ears. If done correctly you will not need any modifications of the grips ( at least not on rubberized grips). It looks good, fits as advertized, and inhances loading procedures.
