The Forster "Original" Case Trimmer is the perfect choice for trimming most calibers with bullet diameters from .171" to .459" and cartridge length no greater than 2.94". This trimmer is a perfect choice for the novice or experienced reloader looking to precisely trim down brass cases to within specification. It is a fine mini-lathe that uses the accurate Brown and Sharpe type collets to accurately hold the rims of most rifle and pistol calibers within the range given above. Standard base (5-3/8") included. Additional short 4-5/8" base (item 759-955) or long 6-1/2" base (item 491-050) can be purchased separately to trim shorter or longer cases.

I love this cutter. It's solid and reliable. Setting up the exact cut length was a bit of a pain, but once it was set, every case was within 1/1000 of an inch. Pretty impressive tool. A "must have" for rifle reloaders.

This is a great trimmer, very consistent, with easy directions to follow for setup. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, because I bought 3 pilots for it (9mm, 5.56, and .308) but the .308 would not fit inside the cutter.After inspecting, it turns out that there was a bur inside the cutter shaft, from where Forster cut and threaded the set screw shaft for holding the pilots in place. It was a relatively minor fix (used a 3/16 drill bit and cleaned up the pilot shaft inside the cutter) and chased it with a round file, then polished the end of the pilot with emery cloth.Ultimately, something this minor should have been caught at the factory, but since two of the 3 pilots fit, it was probably within tolerances. Anyways, great product still and I plan on buying a few of the accessories for it in the near future. A friend is going to buy one too, after using mine.

An excellent product for FAST & ACCURATE brass trimming. I use this on my 45 ACP ,44 rem mag and I have one modified for my 500 S&W. But, if you need one for ultimate accuracy use L. E. Wilson even though its a little slow, this is the way to go if you are doing rifle reloading.

This thing is built better than you would think from the pictures. Well cared for decades of service would not be difficult. Mount it down well though because longer trims generate a lot of torque. My only suggestion is to get the power drill adaptor as well. The handle is kind of small for larger hands. With the adaptor 300 AAC trims took 10ish seconds each and were a breeze.

For the past two years I have been trying to use the Hornady trimmer that uses the shell holder and could never get consistent case lengths and the case mouth was generally not square. I debated whether to get the Wilson micro adjustable trimmer or the Forster. I am glad I chose Forster. Not only is it easy to set up and use, it cuts the case lengths consistently and the case mouths are absolutely square. The other consideration was the new 3-in-1 cutter that chamfers and deburs while cutting the case to length. In addition, the Forster trimmer has other attachments that allows the trimmer to do more than just trim. You can get the optional outside neck turning attachment, inside neck reamer, primer pocket cleaner, primer pocket chamfering, and hollow pointer attachments. The collet system works extremely well and is really easy to get lined up square if you read the instructions. Finally you can add the power attachment and really trim cases rapidly. The Wilson did not offer the great attachments like the Forster does and IMHO the Forster is just as accurate and precise for my long range shooting needs as the Wilson is. It is warranted for life unlike the Wilson which is for one year. You do not need the micro-adjust feature since the Forster only takes a minute or less to get the correct case length dialed in. I would highly recommend this trimmer. After using it for a while I would certainly buy another one should this one get broken.

This is an awesome case trimmer. When setup and loaded properly this will hold case trim tolerances to .001 consistently and provide a nice square cut to the shell base. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I bought this to replace a Powered RCBS Trim-Pro which would not cut square case mouths. The Forster, even when not using the electric drill attachment, trims much faster and all case mouths are square. Mine is mounted on a 18" length of 2x4 that I attach to my kitchen table with C-clamps and a baking sheet underneath it to catch the metal shavings. It is a great trimmer and I like it much better than the RCBS trimmer.

I was afraid the collet ...

I was afraid the collet system was going to make swapping out the brass slow the process down too much compared to other trimmers which have quicker-release designs, but I quickly discovered (as probably everyone else does) that you can just shove the neck of the case onto the pilot and then use the shaft to seat the brass into the collet quickly. The collet system holds the case like the sword in the stone, and this device trims to +- 0.001" each time.

This is the best lathe trimmer I have purchased. I have another brand, which also works well, but this one far exceeds it in quality and precision. An excellent choice for any reloaders' equipment. Wished I had one of these years ago.
