Product Information

These revolutionary bullets from Barnes are made of 100% copper and contain no lead. When the bullet expands, four razor-sharp cutting petals are created, allowing the bullet to penetrate farther through tough bone and tissue. These bullets usually retain 100% of their original weight, making them a superb choice for hunting. Barnes recommends initially seating bullets 0.050" off the lands. Best accuracy will be found from 0.030" to 0.070" depending on the rifle. This is not loaded ammunition.

I loaded this bullet for a modified Rem 700 30-06 using Win 760 powder. Excellent accuracy up to 800 yards. This is a perfect lite .308 bullet that will retain knockdown on medium game at long distances here in the Southwest.

Used these bullets for the 2010 Pa. deer hunt and shot a doe running flat out past me. Bullet entered right shoulder, traversed the full length of the deer and ended up in the rump and was recovered picture perfect mushroomed during butchering. Would have rated 5 stars if weren't for the total loss of the right shoulder, ribs and some of the rump roast. Never saw damage like this before.

I se this bullet out of a 28" t/c encore rifle. Load of h-4831 shoots 1 hole! I have taken 3 coyotes and 6 or 7 does and 2 bucks with this bullet, all were hit by lightning. Wind drift is very minimal and the 3,600 fps trajectory is phenomenal. a 3" high sighting at 100 yards puts you dead on at 400. I have never recovered a bullet they penetrate so well. by the way, I bought the .300 win mag barrel just to use this bullet! it is that good. now for an elk.

Great performance out of a 30-06 at over 3200 FPS on an Antelope hunt in Wyoming in October 2009. One buck shot in the neck at 324 yards He stumbled 10 yards and fell dead. One doe shot at 154 yards. Her chin was the first thing to hit the ground. Good accuracy and terminal performance.

Looking for a .300 WBY load with less recoil and meat damage decided to try 130 grain X- bullet with IMR 4831, WBY brass and 215 Federal primers. Average 1 inch groups in .300 WBY Vanguard. Full penetration, no recovery and less meat damage than 180 grain Hornady SPBTs. Took 4 nice Mouflon Rams on Big Island of Hawaii from 75 to 375 yards. Partner stoned another Ram @ 100 yards with a 53 grain X-bullet in 223 Rem, one shot kill. Barnes X bullets are sure performers and worth every penny spent!

Wow! these babies cook. From my 308 Win I can easily get 3000 fps and tight groups. At 25 yards, this load will blow through 6 water-filled gallon jugs with perfect mushroom and 100% weight retention. A 130 gr Hornady SP by comparison will penetrate 4 jugs with less than 10% retained.They make a difference with shots that miss the mark. I shot one doe low through the abdomen and just a bit of chest. She ran 50 yards and was done.

I use these in my wife's Ruger lightweight and my Remington model 7 lightweight. We have experience superb 1 shot kills out to 250 yards on big bodied mule deer with this bullet in .308. I have great faith in this little bullet.

I haven't had a lot of opportunity to use these bullets, but in their initial loading and test firing, they are very accurate. They grouped smaller than a ballistic tip, which I use as an accuracy gauge in judging all others. If they perform as well on deer they will be fantastic.
