This item is a bit of a ...

This item is a bit of a "hidden treasure". It does just what it supposed to do, for a much more reasonable price than tripod mounts available from other makers. Two things should be noted.First, this item works with almost ANY set/brand of binoculars which provides a standard female hole just like those found on the bottom of cameras for tripod mounting. On binoculars, especially the porro prism type, this is generally located on the front end of the "hinge." Some binocular makers do not even tell you (conspicuously) that such a mounting hole might be there and it is often covered with a screw-on button, like of my Nikons.Second, the knob on the item which I received is slightly different than pictured. At some point, the maker must have added a one inch length of knurled rod which passes through the plastic knob and makes the initial threading even easier.The only negative on this product is that it is of a purely utilitarian design. You could undoubtedly make your own with a few spare parts and scraps, but those might cost you more than this item does. And with a decent quality tripod, it sure holds my Nikons steady in a respectable wind.
