This bolt handle is not ...

This bolt handle is not compatible with my receiver from the early '70s which has a protruding longitudinal guild rail inside the roof (alongside the recoil spring/rod) that aligns the bolt in its fore/aft travel. This bolt handle does not have the groove machined into it that rides over my receiver's guide rail. In talking with Randal Power, it seems that later receivers no longer have this rail and have no problem with this particular extended handle. I was disappointed in having to cut a groove in the handle to get the rifle up & running for a match. HOWEVER, I am giving the product 5 stars because of Mr. Power's attention to customer service, as he offered to replace the handle with a compatible model (even though I had modified it). Good products sell themselves but great customer service is King!

While this is a well made handle, I was not happy to see I had to do some metal work to make it fit my Ruger 10/22. A friend of mine also has one of these and it dropped right in his gun with no fitting. My rifle is much older than his and has a slot grove in the inside top of the receiver where his doesn't. So be sure to check yours before ordering. The part will still work after taking metal off of both sides and cutting a grove into the part that rides on the bolt.

I just received this Extended Bolt Handle assembly and was terribly dissappointed when I started to install it in my rifle. It's supposed to be an exact replacement but it is NOT! The reason that you have to be careful to take the "pin" out is because this "replacement" is shorter than what Ruger originally put in the rifle by almost 1/4 of an inch. It's NOT an exact match at all. Needless to say I wouldn't install it in my rifle because as far as I'm concerned it's an inferior part.

Not happy at all, this ...

Not happy at all, this thing is a piece of crap. The guide rod isn't crimped like the oem ruger piece so the spring comes off when it is removed. That is ridiculous and poor quality. The thing is also so loose, it jiggles up and down about a half inch when installed! I can't believe the amount of people that actually like this thing!

I only gave it 5 stars because thats all they let us do. The Power Custom Competition Extended Bolt Handle is a great improvement to the stock handle. The Power Custom Competition Extended Bolt Handle is big thank goodness, it is 1/2 in diameter and 1 1/32 long which makes it near perfect for me. The stock handle is only 3/4 long, which made it very tough to even find without looking. Sorry I couldn't give it 6 stars but fair is fair.

A good product except for the extra heavy spring. I had a few failures to chamber a round. Changed to the original Ruger spring & everything was 100%

This bolt is too heavy for the supplied spring. It caused excessive failure to eject and failure to close of the bolt. Had to pop the original bolt handle back in, a waste of money.

Overall it's a great extended bolt and it does what I want it to do. Only 4 stars since I had to use 400 grit sand paper to smooth the surface and shine it up, else it would have been 5 stars.

This will not drop into a SR-22 . I had to take about an 1/8" off the inside of the handle to make it work .

If you read the directions, it explains how the spring retainer comes out upon installation and then it works fine. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is because the specialized installation is not pointed out when purchased, though easy to do. I need to follow my Dad's advice...READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! Thanks to all, hope this helps.

Works great. No problems with the install. Like the other reviews said, be sure to remove the pin to ensure the bolt achieves full lockup in battery.
