Nosler Ballistic Tip Hunting bullets have been trusted by hunters for nearly 25 years. They are precision made and individually inspected for the utmost quality which translates to incredible accuracy with every shot. The heavy jacket base prevents bullet deformation during firing and holds together at extreme velocities as well as a polycarbonate tip that resists deformation in the magazine and initiates expansion upon impact. The bullet's mid-section keeps it together at any velocity until impact, and a uniform, pure lead core eliminates possible imbalance and erratic flight caused by air pockets. Great for thin-skinned game like deer, antelope and sheep. This is not loaded ammunition.

First learned of ...

First learned of ballistic tip around 1992, when I began reloading. So I was new to most components available. Speer, Sierra, Hornady, and Nosler were only bullets I loaded for years. Every deer I've ever killed with a rifle was with Nosler b-tip, from 4 yards to over 200 yards. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH FRAGMENTATION, EVER. Never recovered a bullet either. All pass throughs, and all deer were recovered within a few yards of where shot, if not downed in its tracks. Terminal performance outstanding. I've taken over 100 big game animals with it and my brother as well, with my loads.

This bullet is accurate and easy to load but I am going to give up on it. I have only used it on white tail deer. This season I loaded it down to about 2950 fps and found the performance to be the same as in the past. Shots on game have been from 105 to 165 yds and every bullet has fragmented and caused excessive meat loss. Luckily I got good shots all but one, which minimized the loss to ribs and in one case a small portion of the off side shoulder. The not so lucky shot was one I should not have taken at a running buck at 165 yds. The placement was a high and I lost both tenderloins and almost half of the back meat. This bullet will certainly kill, but I'm going back to one of the more solidly constructed choices. I simply don't understand the statements about bullet integrity made by others but my experience on several deer has been of a very large varmint bullet.

I handloaded these over 51 grains of 4831sc, shot half inch groups at 100 yds from a bench, then took them to the woods, at 75 yards, this bullet punched a hole thru a deer's rib cage over one inch in diameter in one side and out the other. I've shot all kinds of bullets, this is the best one for deer.

I loaded and shot some of these today. Ive been using these for over 10 years, but never wrote a review. Anyways. I used the most accurate load of H4831sc that the Nosler book recommended for about 2900 fps.and at 100 yards the 270 x-bolt produced 4 shot groups that made 1 hole, overall less than .5 inches. From the dozens of deer, coyotes, hogs, and 1 turkey in Texas....everything I have ever shot with these were found within 5-10 yards of where it was shot, but most of them were still in their tracks. Plain and simple, some fragmentation is apparently awesome!

I have been reloading Nosler ballistic tips for my Winchester M70 .270Win for 15 years. These are the only bullets I have found that will deliver sub MOA groups at 100 yards. Last year (2011) I shot 2 deer; 1 @ 310 yards and 1 @ 260 yards from a solid rest. I had zeroed the rifle for dead on at 250 yards for the field I hunt. Both deer dropped in their tracks at these ranges! I have never seen a bullet deliver this kind of lightning quick kill and still achieve full penetration. Will never switch!

I've only shot paper with these so far. Got 1/2" three shot group with IMR 4831 powder, winchester cases, cci 200 primers. I was using the new Ruger American rifle in .270 win with a burris 3-9x40 fullfield scope set a 9 power.

Great ammo, very accurate shooting out of Savage rifle. Got .39" spread at 100 yards. Compared with other bullets from Sierra and Hornady. Had the tightest group with Nosler.

This is a great bullet. I have used this bullet for the past 6 years or so. I have taken many deer, antelope and elk. One elk was at 700 yards, so this is a very good all around bullet.

great bullet for bench shooting but as a hunting bullet not so good. Shot a deer at 120 yds went in behind shoulder. Found brass in the backstrap.

This is an addendum to an earlier posting concerning these bullets "changing direction" while traveling through a deer: I backed off on my load a little bit, dropping from a muzzle velocity of 3060 fps (24" barrel) down to 2940 fps, and the direction changes seemed to disappear. Nosler suggests to limit these bullets to 3000 fps, and apparently this is important for top performance. As another poster said, this is still the best bullet flying, except for the rather high price. I am going to experiment with some Hornady SSTs, as they are significantly less expensive; time will tell if they perform as well as Nosler. I'll post my results later!

Just to respond on R Delbridge's remark. He has hit this right on the nose. The bullet that sometimes stays in the deer the better. This means the deer took every bit of energy the bullet has to offer. It makes no sense on using a partition type bullet on a deer if it just passes through with enough energy to penetrate through an 8" sapling. Ideally the bullet should have just enough energy to make it through the deer not through the trees beyond. Great post Mr. Delbridge!

I love these bullets. I shoot 130gr out of my Remington 700 .270 WSM. They group REALLY well at 200 and I harvested 2 Antelope does this year using them. One at 250 yds, the other at 500. I have just started to reload my own, rather than have by buddy do it for me, so we'll see how that goes.
