The Lee Production Pot Four Furnace is a great furnace for any caster looking for a reliable furnace that features a deep pot with 10 pound capacity, Infinite heat control, 500 watts of power and a melt time of approx. 20 minutes. The Production Pot Four also sports a large, stable base for added safety and a generous 4" of clearance under the spout to accept all brands of bullet molds and most sinker molds.

I bought this pot because I was tired of pouring with a dipper. I can't believe I didn't buy one sooner! With this pot I was able to pour more bullets per hour and the number of defects dropped considerably. What a great addition to any caster's bench.

I had problems with my ...

I had problems with my Production Pot and it surprised me how poorly it performed. The problems I encountered were with the coil, and the drain. The coil failed before I ever casted 500 bullets. Replacing the coil was a pain because of the way the frame is assembled. The real problem was the drain spout. It dripped constantly and at times would not even slow the flow of lead when released, so it would made a big mess very quickly. I made an effort to clean the spout but it would always be a problem.The design is very simple and easy to use, but it just did not meet my expectations for dependability or durability. The RCBS furnace, although very expensive, is well worth it.

I have had one of these for 30 years. Still have it and still use it often. Recently I replaced the iron pot and the valve rod. Sure it drips, but very little. All you have to do is use a screw driver to rotate the valve rod back and forth a few times every so often. Big whoop! I also have a wire that I occasionally use to clean out the pour spout. Just shove it up the spout while the lead is hot, rotate it back and forth and it flows just fine. I use a lead thermometer to monitor the temp, and it will hold the correct temp all day. It is a poor carpenter that blames his tools for his failures. I am buying another one of these for my son who will be starting casting.

Very easy to use, space efficient and cost effective. Well worth the money. The only "problem" I've encountered so far is that the steel rod that opens and plugs the hole on the bottom has to be centered on the camber bar or else it might not pour correctly. An easy problem to fix if it occurs.

This is my first Pot and already made 300 rounds. Easy to use and I like the numbers for the temperature setting, well design and the level to put the lead in the mold is a plus, I don't like the idea to use a pour spoon to put the lead on the mold. For the price is golden. I love Lee products. Midway again, your service is A++. Thanks

I bought my Lee pot back in March, 1978, and have run hundreds of pounds of both pure lead for muzzleloader balls and also alloy for pistol loads. It gets plenty hot, and maintains temperature best if you rig a metal lid to help retain heat. After a 10 year rest, I got it out 2 days ago & cast up about 150 high quality round balls. After 34 years it still works like new!A caution: folks complain about the pour spout dripping. You can control the problem by occasionally removing the valve bar & simply cleaning off the dross with a wire brush. Heat up the empty pot, add a pinch of Marvellux flux and scrub out the pour spout well with a stainless steel pistol bore brush. Reassemble, then turn the bar back & forth with a screwdriver, exerting downward pressure. Add your casting metal and you will be good to go. Letting dross build up inside the pour spout is the biggest cause of complaints & is simply a result of poor care of an otherwise excellent & durable piece of equipment.

I bought my pot back in the mid 1990's. It's a good melter and does what it is supposed to do. The only reason why it didn't get a fifth star is the valve has a tendency to leak. The angle design lets it get out of alignment. If Lee would replace that with the vertical valve from their other pots, it'd cure the problem.

Ok I have a lot of Lee equipment and give most of it 5 stars. However this pot drips a lot it is a waste of lead and its a safety issue. I am moving up to the 20 pound pot. If you are only going to cast once in a while this pot may work for you. If you are casting large amounts move to their 20 pound pot.

Best melting pot for the money, period. Heats up well, pours plenty fast and holds a decent amount of lead. The only thing I would change, is the bar through the pot to allow melted lead to flow. It makes skimming dross a pain sometimes.

This is a decent heating pot as far a durability and quality of components. Have used mine for 5 years and not a problem. Only issue I have is production speed on larger size lead castings >1oz. The pot only holds 10 pounds of lead, so at 1oz 10% of the molten lead is used after 16 castings. There is a wait time of 12 minutes to get the molten lead back up to the original casting temperature after refilling. If you do not wait, after the second 1lb fill the lead will harden in the pot while refilling and it takes 23 minutes to heat up to the original casting temperature. To remedy this, and have sustained production, preheat lead in a kettle to 75 degrees above your casting temp and use a 2lb bottom pour ladle to refill the production pot. I use this procedure for up to 4 lb castings and it makes nice even (no cold pour wrinkles) castings safely in all molds I have ever purchased.

I purchased this pot several months ago and have found it to be everything it was advertised to be. Did have a small problem with dripping, but I used some dirty lead and got a piece of grit caught in the spout. My fault. A few turns of the spout rod with a screwdriver cleared out the dirt and stopped the leak. I've started to pre-melt ingots and flux the lead to make sure it's clean before entering the Lee Production Pot. It's a great unit for a great price. To those having trouble, use clean lead.

Folks, you can buy better, but it will cost you 5 times as much, and it won't be five times better. For the money, this is excellent. It is not for those who prefer to use a dipper, and is best for one or 2 cavity molds, but otherwise, it is well worth the money. It's chief advantages are the low cost and the front mounted pour spout. That convenient location makes it very easy to line up the spout with the sprue holes on the mold, without having to bend over and put your face in harms way. The downside of this pot is that it has to run at the top to keep the lead hot enough for use in aluminum molds. It runs out of lead quickly when using multi-cavity molds, especially if you are casting the big 44 or 45 semi wadcutters, 4 or 6 at a crack. And it will drip. You will have to clean the spout and the plug every once in a while. For the bullet caster on a budget, this is the way to go.
