Transport to the ...

Transport to the range/hunting is this case's forte. I have several Gun Guard cases for just that purpose and I appreciate the fact that they are all keyed alike. I have one key on my ring that'll open any case I have. At home I have a Steel safe and traveling by air you'd want a little more as well, but to and from the range this can't be beat! Also the double handles continue to protect your valued firearms even if the latches fail, great peace of mind. I'll be ordering two more cases shortly. You can't beat the price for the security these cases provide.

I have an older version of this case, a two pistol. While I would not transport my handguns through airports in this case; the four pistol model is fantastic for providing safe, clean storage of several handuns and this is why I bought it. I have several pistols safely stored for when I need/want to use them. Fantastic for home storage ..soso ..for travel.

This is not Samsonite ...

This is not Samsonite luggage: it scratches, mars, goes out of alignment, locks easily picked etc but this is a worthwhile step over a canvas type case. I've been carrying a scoped SRH and a 629 in the same case for 3 months along with ammo and tools. No malfunctions. I will suggest that your pistols be wrapped in a HEAVY cloth to make up for the shortcomings in the foam padding-it isn't quite thick enough, your gear may slide. On the other hand, my SRH never lost its zero. How good is this item? Well, it's not expensive or well-made luggage. Conversely, if you have ever had the zipper fail on an expensive canvas case on more than one occasion, this might be a good alternative for you. Look around, you can pay more than 3 times the price of this item for a canvas type carrier and I'd wager you would not get the protection of the hard plastic case. I thought it worthwhile and I will purchase another.

I purchased this case in order to fly with my firearms. It is listed as padlock lockable but when I received the unit there are no tabs for padlocks. It has a basic keylock mechanism but its generic so anybody with the same brand case could easily open it (or it could be picked). This isn't a bad case otherwise for transporting several firearms to the range, but I wouldn't recommmend it if you are looking for an FAA approved container.
