First of all, this book ...

First of all, this book was printed in 1985 and that should tell you what to expect. The first 33 pages of this 160 page book are a history lesson on the early A1 setup. If you have an A2, don't buy this book except as a conversation piece. I must admit the assembly and disassembly sections are detailed and useful. But I was shocked to see chapters called "Learning to use the AR15" and "Cleaning and Lubrication" that were a combined total of only 3 pages. Thank God I already knew quite a bit about this rifle becuase this book sure didn't impart any new or even basic knowledge of key areas. The graphics are 95% pencil sketches and the few actual photos are poor and grainy. There is, however, a detailed set of instructions and technical drawings on full-auto conversions if that's what you're legally into...But don't buy if you're new to ARs or if you're looking for current reference material. Other than that, it's okay for the coffee table or bathroom reading material I guess.
