Lee Steel Die Sets have features identical to the Lee Carbide 3-Die Set except the case MUST be lubricated for sizing. Sizer Die, Powder Through Expander Die, Bullet Seater Die, Shellholder, Powder Measure and storage case included. Bullet seater die features and adjustable taper to roll crimp.

Special Note:

The Lee Nagant die set has the sizer die marked 7.62 Nagant and the other two dies are marked 32-20

This die set does not come with load data or any other cartridge information.

For best results you need to slug your Nagant barrel to determine the bullet diameter needed. .311 - .314 diameter bullets work best.

Starline 32-20 brass is likely to work without any alteration. Other brand 32-20 brass will require rim thinning or modification of the recoil plate.

Load data (one load) is located in the "Manual of Cartridge Conversions." Product number 132259

This die set is intended to make shootable ammunition for these revolvers. This die set will not make ammunition that is a duplicate of original ammunition.

I must be one of the few to find this die to be a good deal. I did not get the "additional instructions", but I did replace the seater with a screw to allow me to seat a 90 gr swc deep enough. I use Starline 32/20 brass with excellent results in all of my nagant revolvers.If that brass is binding up your revolver, just take a very fine nail file and file the part on the revolver that actually pushes the cylinder forward into the forcing cone. It is spring loaded, so you wont be hurting a thing. Take just enough so the cylinder cycles properly. Add some blue when done. I have a collection of these and have only had to file one or two.I would definitely recommend this set for someone who wants to shoot their nagant revolver a lot.

Someone ask about loading ...

Someone ask about loading specifics. I trimmed my 32-20 cases to 1.25. The combined overall length of the Nagant rounds needs to be 1.50. I used Unique powder for these cartridges. I got my data from Lymans cast bullet manual and I used the .32 S&W long cartridge (similar to the Nagant according to the Manual of Cartridge Conversions). The Lyman book showed these loads for a 93-grain lead bullet: Unique is not very friendly since it has large flakes, but it works.The bullet seating die does not push the bullet far enough into the case to create a 1.50 bullet. Even at maximum screw in, the bullet is too long to work in the Nagant revolver. To fix the Lee bullet-seating die, you need to unscrew the bullet seating assembly and pull out bullet seating mandrel. Place a round screw into the dies hole. It is best if you select a rounded screw large enough so that it doesnt fall through the hole. A small screw will work, but it will also need a washer and nut to hold it in place. I cut the threads off the screw and epoxied it into the mandrels cup. The round screw head extends enough below the hole to allow you to push the bullet to the 1.50 depth. Pretty cheesy, huh?

These dies need to have a better discription as to what you are getting. The decapper/sizer die is the only die that is 7.62x38R Nagant. The other two dies are 32-20 but can't really tell as there is no documentation with the die set.

The dies did what they were designed to do which was to let the reloader use 32-20 brass, resize it for the Nagant and load it with .312 bullets seated very deep in the case. Some people load the bullet even with the lip of the brass. i don't seat mine that deep. Make sure that you use plent of lube when re-sizing. I used Imperial re-sizing wax. Best stuff I have ever run into. The rest of the stuff on the market should pay attention to how this stuff is made.

They need to update the instructions on these. The set I picked up last month no longer carries the 32-20 brass notation. The bullet seater has been extended and turned down, so now it seats and crimps original spec gas seal ammunition. Though it would still work with .32-20 brass if desired. 7.62x38r PRVI brass is now available, and Midway now sells the PRVI loaded ammunition with boxer brass. Loaded with a Lee 100 grain bullet in PRVI brass, worked great in my Nagant!

This product is designed to make shootable ammo out of 32-20 brass. If you are looking to reload actual 7.62 Nagant casings, I recommend buying a .30 carbine die and a #15 RCBS shell holder. Replacing the bullet seater with a 1/4x3/4" bolt or machine screw and properly adjusting the dies will allow you to reload Nagant ammo to near factory quality. The only problem is the aesthetics of the crimp, which is closer to the original military crimp than the modern factory crimp. I highly recommend these dies to anyone who wants to shoot their Nagant often and cheaply. I find very little difference between rounds loaded from 32-20 and original Nagant casings.

This die set worked great with the Starline brass for the initial reforming and first loading and first firing. Using it to resize once fired brass, however, resulted in the case neck too large to have any bullet retention. It simply will not resize once fired brass back down to the correct size. The expander will not even touch the inside of the case after resizing once fired brass.

I use these dies to load proper 7.62 Nagant brass for the revolver. I inserted a spacer to allow the seating die to seat the bullet below the mouth. The sizing die sizes the brass very narrow. The expander plug is too short to expand properly, this leads to the bullet bulging the case when seating. I made an expander plug that is about 1/3 longer and this eliminates the bulging. The seating die does not crimp the mouth enough to ensure it enters the back of the barrel when cocked to seal the gap. A Lee 30 carbine factory crimp die does a much better job of crimping the mouth enough. A properly modified die set makes very consistent ammo.

I continue to see bad reviews of this set of dies on online forums by people that seemed surprised that it didnt do what they expected, so I thought I would add my two cents for those that havent thought this out. This set of dies is to help one make shootable ammo for your Nagant from 32-20 brass. At the very least, you will have to shave down the rim of the brass , and alter or add parts to the bullet seater. I know people that have done this quite successfully. I bought this set to reload Fiocchi and Hotshot 7.62 Nagant brass. It requires tons of case lube, coming up with another stem for the bullet seater, an expensive RCBS shellholder, an altered shellholder for my priming tool, a Lee Universal Case Expander Die, a Lee 30 Carbine factory crimp die, and lots of experimenting. Most of these things I had laying around anyway, the shellholder was the only big purchase. All that being said, once I figured out how to do it, it does the job and makes great ammo for pennies. I have one batch of Fiocchi brass that I have loaded 5 times now with no splits. The Hotshot brass looks like it may be even better. This set of dies costs barely a third of the next cheapest option, and the RCBS dies cost 160 bucks! I consider the Lee set to be an incredible value for anyone that knows what they are doing or is willing to figure it out. If you dont have much knowledge about reloading and you arent willing to do some experimenting, then you arent going to be happy with these. Im shooting my Nagants way more than I ever dreamed I would before I found these dies.

I bought this for reloading Nagant brass rather than the 32-20 brass that it was designed for. After replacing the seating die with a machine screw of the appropriate size, I have managed a satisfactory job of reloading my Nagant brass. It's the best game in town unless you want to pay big bucks for a custom set from other makers. For those of us who learn how to use these dies, Midway did us a big favor in making these available.

If your M95 barrel is ...

If your M95 barrel is .308, you are out of luck as the sizer only sizes the very tip of neck inside dia. to .307. Within a 1/4" it is .309". The Big powder dipper was put in to hold the shellholder in the box. It came with NO load data sheet or paper work explaining that you had to jury-rig a seater stem. If they had turned down both end of the seater stem 3/8" to .308 it would work in 32-20 cases with round nose or flat nose bullets. It will work But you need to know what you are getting into. PS: get a Lee Carbide Factory crimp die in 30Carbine (222-864) as it works perfect on the Starline 32-20 cases.

Used the Lee dies, Starline brass and Hunter's supply cast lead 76 grain flat point bullets. All worked really well in my Nagant. The sizing die formed the brass really well. I will have to modify the seating die to try wadcutters but this is a very good value to make ammo for the Nagant.
