A great tool for removing the military crimp for my .223. The bit is ver sharp and a few turns of the tool will remove even the heaviest crimp. However, you need to be careful not to drive the tool into the pocket so deep. Otherwise, it will turn your pocket into a funnel! Lightly insert the bit and 1-2 turns is sufficient so you can install new primers.

This is a superb product! it leaves the pocket reamed to proper size and leaves a neat clean bevel on the mouth. it fully removes the crimp from military cases with just a twist.

After close to 20 years I have to replace mine. It has worked well. Major point is that this is a hand tool. If one puts it into a drill or some other power tool the higher speeds will over heat the cutting edges and the heat treatment will be ruined thus dulling the cut and wearing out the blade quickly.

I bought this to remove the crimp from .223 brass and was very disappointed it. It is not sharp enough to even remove any shavings. I had the same trouble with the Lyman chamfer and deburring tool VLD. Spend the extra and get any other brand. I prefer RCBS.

This product does NOT completely remove military crimps in .223 brass. I received it yesterday and tried it today with disappointing results. It is hard to turn in your hand and does not cut cleanly. Seems that the tool is not sharp enough. I also have the RBCS tool and it works like a charm. Spend the extra couple dollars and go RBCS.

My handle was not off ...

My handle was not off center as some have complained, however after about 5 cases I made a holder for my lathe and after about 50 cases is was so dull it was too much effort to use. The Hornady is still like new after 300+ cases it is a much better cutter.

This does not deserve the Lyman name. It is to dull to do it's intended job with out great effort. I ended up using my RCBS case mouth chamfering tool. That worked a lot better.

This started out as my favorite pocket reamer because I love the handle compared to other brands. The only real issue I have with mine is the reamer blades are not as sharp as other brands, but it does leave a nicer finish in the case than most, and the reamer tool is a couple thousandths thicker than other brands so if you are not careful, you can quickly over do the primer pockets to the point where your primers will be a loose fit.
