Great product that can be used to put a 7 3/4 forearm from an early version Mossberg 500 on a 6 3/4 slide tube for a later version Mossberg 500. I used this Hogue nut to install the Speedfeed forearm on my shotgun. Please note that you will need a forearm nut tool to do the job properly.

I installed the Hogue Overmolded stock and forend set (Hogue 05012) on a Mossberg 500 (model 50521) 12 gauge. This model has the Maverick-style one piece forend. You will need to get a 6-3/4" slide tube assembly (Mossberg 12362BL) and the Hogue Forend Adapter nut (Hogue 05020) to do the upgrade. The Hogue forend was a perfect fit with the tube assembly and adapter nut, no trimming was required. Just needed a little Loctite blue for the nut threads. A forend nut wrench (Promag PM163) will make the job easier. The stock was a perfect bolt-on replacement. You will need to reuse the bolt from the Mossberg stock for the Hogue stock installation. Great fit, great product, much nicer than the OEM parts.

5 minutes after I retrieved this from my mailbox, it was installed on my Mossberg 500, holding Hogue's overmolded rubber forearm securely. No cussing, no Dremel work. Works like a champ.

Yes you need this nut on a 2 year old 500. And yes you need to open up the forend a little to make it work. You know this if you buy the stock and forend. Everything fits great and works like a charm. Thank you Hogue for such a wonderful product.

I bought the Hogue forend for my Mossberg Maverick 88 and didn't think I needed the adapter nut. I was wrong. The Maverick needs this adapter to properly install the forend.

I bought this for my Mossberg 500. I wanted a more tactical look. I did have to use a dremel tool to hone out a little plastic inside the Hogue forend so the adapter nut would slide into the hole. It would just not fit without the adjustment. All went well and it looks great!

Product did not work as advertised. I own a Mossberg 500A that was made in 2008, just last year, and I bought the Overmolded stock set to go on this shotgun which came with the factory wood stock.The butt-stock fit the receiver great, but the recoil pad didn't fit flush to the stock. The forearm would rub against the underside of the barrel creating wear marks. I had to take a knife and shave off parts of the rubber to get it to quit rubbing. To top it all off, the adapter nut that was supposed to be for the 6 3/4'' slide tubes wasn't even long enough to reach the forend tube assembly's threads! It was short by about 1/8 of an inch and so was the free replacement nut that hogue sent me to use with the stock (after speaking with Neil Hogue, the owner of the company). I eventually shaved the lip down on the inside of the forearm so the nut would reach, but then the inside diameter of the nut was too big compared to the outside diameter of the threads on the slide tube assembly and when I racked the slide too hard it would slide off. I held it on with loctite and it eventually came loose during sabot slug shooting with the rifled barrel I bought for my shotgun. Next time I'll go with a stock set that costs a bit more, at least that way I'll know I got a quality product that works instead of a $50+ piece of plastic that won't fit right. The 500A now wears the factory wood stocks again.
