The traditional, flat base design of the Pro-Hunter has been skillfully blended with Sierra's world-famous accuracy. The custom-tapered Pro-Hunter jacket design helps assure maximum expansion, optimum weight retention and deep penetration for game-stopping, 1-shot performance. This 150 Grain Spitzer was designed as a medium and large game bullet for larger cartridges in the .311 caliber. This is not loaded ammunition.

I tried several different ...

I tried several different .311 and .308 bullets when loading up for my 7.62x54R SVD. I found that this bullet was by far the most consistent in weight, and it ultimately delivered sub MOA accuracy out a challenging platform. I used it in the field for the first time last weekend in a load that was pushing 2700fps, and it's on-target performance was spectacular. The shot came much closer than normal (50 yards) so recovering the bullet was out of the question, but it entered cleanly and left a sizable exit wound resulting in an instant kill. I may tune this load down to around 2600fps where the accuracy peaked, but aside from that my work is done regarding a hunting load for this gun.My next project is an old No4MK1"T" that I'm hoping will like this bullet as much as my SVD does.

Just alright. I'm not sure about actual velocity, but the deer I shot this year didn't show any signs of bullet deformation at all. I am reloading for the 7.7X58 Japanese. Load data indicated about 2600fps. I shot a doe from about 85yds and the wound looked as if a target arrow had punched through her lungs. Roughly 1/3 of an inch through everything. The bullets shoot accurately enough, and seem to be of quality, I just expected a little more upset from a soft point bullet, this acted almost like a FMJ for me. Perhaps they require a little more velocity.

I bought a box to reload for a .303 British Enfield. The 100 yd groups were not really groups...might have been as good as 12". Flabergasted to say the least. Miked the bullets and what was supposed to be .311" actually measured .309". I was so disgusted that I threw them in the trash and bought a Speer Hot Core. The Sierra also came apart, the Hot Core did not.

I've used this bullet in my 303 British for the first 6 years I hunted, when I was 12yr's old, granddad gave it to me along with the knowledge to reload my own ammo, killed 8 deer with them.

Out of my Mosin Nagant and my Lee Enfield these are excellent. The groups out of the Mosin Nagant 91/30 (23" barrel, ATI stock, scout scope, Timney Trigger) are about 3/4" at 75 yards, that's plenty accurate for whitetails. Last weekend I took a doe at 35 yards quartering towards me. The bullet entered high right shoulder and exited the ribs on the left side. She dropped on the spot. Great bullet, I would definitely recommend.

Of all the different types of bullets and brands I have tried, this has been the most accurate in my mid-war production Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1. Since I slugged the bore diameter at .314, I think that says a lot - this bullet shoots better than others which would be more fitted to my barrel. From a sitting benchrest position, using iron sights, I have shot two-inch groupings of five shots at 100 yards. Not bad for a beat-up, old, over-bored battle rifle with a two-groove barrel. The only reason I haven't given this product five stars is because I haven't tried it hunting yet, so I cannot speak on behalf of its terminal performance. I see no reason why it wouldn't perform well though, especially since my chronograph clocked these at approximately 2650 fps with a healthy charge of IMR 4895.

I have tried other bullets through several Enfield's and this one stands out as the best for my 303 rounds. These shot very well from my No4 Savage Enfield with a 2 groove bore.

This bullet is as accurate as Sierra's 174gr matchking in my No.4 Enfield. We're talking inch groups at 100 yards and they don't kick as hard as the matchkings. Easier on the pocketbook too.

I was looking for a hunting bullet for my Lee Enfield MK III. I tried this one first and hit the mark. I used open sights so grouping at the range was misleading (I got 6 inch group at 100 yds; acceptable for open sights). The proof was the deer I got from 80 yards with one shot. The round hit a little high (my fault) but expanded plenty upon impact. It hit the spine and traveled back along it about 18 inches where I recovered the bullet. The jacket was expanded (intact) and retained about 75% of the bullet mass. Had I hit where I aimed it would have exited cleanly but I would not have been able to recover it to see just how good it performed.

For brush country this is the best bullet I have found for loading deer hunting rounds for my SKS. Much more accurate than undersize (308) bullets and one shot terminal performance on deer even when shooting for the chest through a brush clump. For open country go with the flatter shooting 125 gr. (Sierra # 2305) bullet instead.

AWESOME! I've taken two deer with this bullet so far. Both dropped with one shot and were dead before they hit the ground. I load it in 7.62x54R and it holds MOA or better in anything I run it in so far from my Mosin Nagant mil-surps to my CA Armory Dragunov. I wish I could give it a 6th star!
