An appreciable advancement in reliability and function has been achieved with these American-made magazines. Advancements in design and feed lip geometry have yielded enhanced function. Die-controlled tolerances are held to +/- .001" which is more than 75% tighter tolerances than magazines made to military specifications. Springs are made from aerospace-grade wire. Large view holes and numbers allow you to quickly determine how many rounds are in the magazine at a glance. Match grade magazines feature a fixed base plate.

I bought 4 of these mags and found them very unreliable in my Colt 1911.The follower spring is so strong they've had to form extra heavy lips at the mouth of the mag to keep the rounds in place.These lips cause the rounds to strip off the clip at too shallow an angle, and before the round can clear the magazine, it's forced into the feed ramp rather then up it, causing frequent jamming.The noses of the rounds that do chamber are distorted enough to affect accuracy, especially with JHP's.The mags are sturdy and well made, but they definitely need to be redesigned.

I have close to 50 8 rd. 1911 mags. 32 of which are Chip McCormick's with 8 of those being the blued steel version. I also have 4 of the CMC Power Mag 10 rounders. All of these CMC mags function flawlessly in my Colt Series 70, Kimber Custom Classic, and Rock Island Armory 1911's. These mags are stronger and more reliable than my original factory Colt mags! I've been buying a couple of mags from Midway, Midway competitor in Scottsdale, gun shows, etc, going back to 1996. My first three 'blued' mags from Midway are just perfect and reliable as my most recent two purchased at a local gun show last month.I don't have to do this, but I'm old school, I keep 4 x 8 round and 1 x 10 round mags fully loaded for home/personal defense and rotate every three months. For 16 years perfect function, nary a hiccup! These are also my 'breaking in a new 1911' go to mags. Various bullet types (FMJ, HP, Soft nose) are loaded smoothly and swiftly. My preferred defense load is fully loaded with Federal 230 gr HydraShoks or, less frequently, Hornady 230 gr TAP. Total reliable feeding with all mags locking the slide open after last shot on ALL my 1911's.Chip McCormick also has sold me on their 7 round Officers Model mags for my RIA Compact for the reliability of use and their 10 round .38 Super for my Colt 1911 for the same security.I own other good brands of 1911 .45ACP mags, Wilson, Kimber, & Colt. I have some cheap crappy ones which are worthless, but my 'bug out bag' has Chip McCormick mags and reserve Federal Hydra Shok ammo in it. 'Nuff said.

The follower has issues, and according to the instructions, care must be excersized when loading. Even following the instructions, 2 of 8 rounds nosedived when feeding. Not confidence inspiring in a self-defense pistol. I also purchased a CMC Power Mag, and experienced the same nose-diving, only with 3 of the 8 rounds. The WC mags I bought at the same time operated flawlessly.

Purchased one of the CMC "Match Grade", a CMC Power Plus and a Wilson ETM to test out in my Sig Traditional 1911. The Match Grade faired the worst with 3 of 8 rounds failing to feed properly and the slide failing to lock back on the last round. The magazine is well made, but I won't use it.

I bought several of these and put a total of 150 rounds through them so far. I've had one malfunction, and that's about it. For some reason my Kimber Pro Carry does not like 8 round magazines, even though it has a full size frame. But these magazines fit perfectly, and 8 + 1 is not a problem either. I think that for the price these are pretty good.

I have owned this mag type for my 1911 since I bought it. In the last decade I have fired way, WAY over 10k rounds through one of these. This mag has never once jammed one single time. I am fairly certain that the reason I trust my life with my 1911 is this mag. I never leave it empty either, it has been loaded for a decade, and still is stronger than my factory mag. The mag however is a hair too tight to simply drop out of the frame every time. Given how well it has performed otherwise, I wouldn't bat an eyelash at buying a few of these and trusting your life with them.

These are by far the best magazines I have used in my SA mil spec 1911. No problems what so ever. Only thing I wish I could change, and it seems this way on all 1911 mags so far, is the last round doesn't sit flush on top of the round below it, and that cause's a divot in the case of the second round.

So far 100% in my PT1911. I have used 185 grain +P, and 230 grain ammo in slow and fast fire without any problems.

I have a pair of these I had treated with Black-T (by Walter Birdsong) for use in my Colt 01091 (also treated with Black-T). This is a bidness weapon. The McCormick magazines are flawless. I like them without the base pad -- don't need a blood blister from a pinched pinky finger.
