Product Information

These revolutionary bullets from Barnes are made of 100% copper and contain no lead. When the bullet expands, four razor-sharp cutting petals are created, allowing the bullet to penetrate farther through tough bone and tissue. These bullets usually retain 100% of their original weight, making them a superb choice for hunting. Barnes recommends initially seating bullets 0.050" off the lands. Best accuracy will be found from 0.030" to 0.070" depending on the rifle. This is not loaded ammunition.

We tried this bullet in my 13 year old daughter's 7-08. Using IMR 4350 we are getting about 2800 fps. 100 yds groups are around 1 1/4 inch. She shot her first bull elk at 150 yards hitting him behind the last rib and the bullet exited in the crease just behind the far shoulder. He died in less than 50 yards. One shot.The next week she shot a mule deer on the point of the shoulder at 200 yards. The bullet went through the scapula and a rib on the near side and went through a rib on the far side leaving an exit hole the size of a half dollar. One shot. No tracking needed.

I'm having feeding ...

I'm having feeding problems with these bullets in my model 70 winchester 7mm mag. used barnes info for C.O.L. and the hollow point locks up on the feeding ramp. The load I'm using shoots fantastic but I have to really slam the bolt closed to have them feed properly. I could seat bullet more but don't feel I should have to, plenty of room in the magazine.

A friend that reloads and also works at a sporting good store recommended the Barnes TSX bullets to me. He also gave me the Barnes DVD. I chose the 140 grain bullet for my 7mm08 Marlin SX7 rifle. I used Reloader 15. On the third day of the first week of deer season, 2011, I saw a deer, I pointed the rifle and pulled the trigger. Just like Gus Ramos said, it was like some one just turned off the switch. It was exactly as the Barnes DVD showed. The deer hunched up in the middle, and then fell down. End of story. I hope to use this rifle and a 160 grain Barnes TSX bullet on a Elk hunt soon.

I have used these Barnes Bullets in my 7mm STW with a max load of IMR 7828 now for the past 2 years and have taken Bighorn sheep, Elk, Mule and Whitetail Deer, Antelope, and coyotes with them. Every animal has been cleanly taken with one shot at ranges from 200 to over 500 yards. Normally I do not take shots over 300 yards but the accuracy has been superb at the range with 5 shot cloverleaf groups at 100 yards. This past season I took a Rocky Mountain Bighorn in Alberta and an Elk in Montana and both animals collapsed at the shot at significant ranges. Excellent bullet and excellent results.

I hardly ever leave a review on a product, but these bullets are worth it! I use these in my TC Encore 7mm-08 and my average 100 group is 1/2". Several whitetails have fallen to these from the ranges of 40 yards out to 230 yards and all have been complete pass throughs with massive wound channels. Tracking jobs have been short and the damage they do is nothing short of amazing. Great bullet, highly recommended!!

This bullet was recommended to me by a friend who works in a sporting good chain. He showed me a bullet that he brought a deer down with, and it had opened up just like the pictures in the magazines. He also gave me a DVD and booklet from Barnes, about this bullet. Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, I brought down a deer at about 100 yards with one. It performed just like my friend and DVD said that it would. It hit the deer in the rib cage, the shock wave made it hunch up, and then it dropped in it's tracks. It is accurate, and effective. I am satisfied completely.

This bullet shoots well out of my Cooper 52 280 Remington 1:10 twist. Not quite as good as 140gr Sierra Gameking, but on a good day will do 2" 5 shot groups at 200 yards. 160 gr Nosler partition will only give 4" groups. In the past 3 weeks I have taken a 3x4 average mule deer buck and a small cow elk. No bullets were recovered. At 100y the bullet broke the near side shoulder and exited through the neck of the buck. The cow elk was shot through the lungs at 40 yards. After 1/2 hour I finally spotted her 100 yards away. It was snowing and visibility was very poor. There wasn't a single drop of blood on the ground (snow) until I got to the spot where she fell. This is why I give this bullet only 4 stars. It will go cleanly through animals up to the size of cow elk even if it hits bone. If you break the front leg, neck, or spine they drop on the spot. However, with a lung shot you may not get any blood trail. Even though the animal will expire quickly, it may be very difficult to find in timber or when the weather conditions are challenging. One may consider a cup and core bullet for animals of this size.

Took an elk at just over ...

Took an elk at just over 300 yards with this bullet out of a Howa 7mm-08. One shot kill. My rifle only got 2720 fps out of its 20" barrel with Varget. Groups were about .75" Even though my velocity wasn't up with the 7 mags, the bullet really performed well! I will be using this bullet on elk again.

I've had great results with this bullet in my 280 Rem on pronghorn. All have been down and out (one shot) when I do my part. These bullets group well, give high velocity and outstanding terminal performance. I use IMR 4831 with near max load.

Outstanding bullet!! Holds up extremely well on game and accuracy is GREAT!! Shoot these from Wthby Accumark @3450fps. and can cover 5 shot group @100yds. with a nickel!!

I just want to say that this bullet took down 3 deer this year and none of them took a step. They appeared to have fallen as if someone turned them off like a light bulb. I took two of my best deer this year and thanks to this bullet I didn't have to chase them down. Used the 7mm STW as mentioned on my other comments. Thanks Midway and Barnes.
