An ultra lightweight replacement barrel for the Ruger 10/22. Each barrel is precision machined from solid aircraft aluminum and incorporates a premium button rifled chrome moly steel liner. The barrel's muzzle is threaded 1/2"x28mm for muzzle brakes or sound suppressors, and is capped with an aluminum thread protector.

Excellent 10/22 barrel

I purchased the matte black threaded barrel. The barrel is much lighter than the Ruger OEM, making it fun to tote. I called the Tactical Solutions (TS) tech support before I started the installation and was very impressed with the personal attention. I highly recommend reviewing the TS website video that shows how to install the barrel, which is a nice supplement to the written directions. The receiver end of the barrel comes slightly oversized, so it needs sanded down just a little to fit. Don't force it, but it should fit very snug after sanding. It took me approx. 10 minutes to sand the barrel. I used 320 grit automotive grade paper. Wrap a small piece of sand paper the completely around insert, flat edge of paper flush with instep, careful not to touch finish on the exposed barrel, and turn the sand paper round and round. The finish will come off a little by design. Every little bit, take some CLP or gun oil and wipe the sanded surface clean. CLP will protect the insert after installed. Then try to insert the barrel into the receiver while slightly rotating the barrel to help it align. If it won't install, sand a little more. As a side note, I saw that some people freeze and heat components to make fit...this appears quite risky...this may make the final assembly permanent, possibly split the receiver, or get it slightly off when installed with no way to fix it. Just take your time, follow the video and written directions. As far as sighting, and having owned many nicer 22s, try different types of ammo to see what makes it accurate.

I swear I would give this thing a million stars if I could. These barrels are very well made and are unbelievably accurate. Not to mention the barrel is so lightweight. I could not believe it. Easy installation and setup. They tell you this but DO NOT use a mallet to beat the barrel into the receiver buy some emery cloth and sand down the shank as the directions say. Again, I couldn't be more pleased with the products from TS. I WILL be buying couple more of these.

Barrel is great, no question about that. But technique of heating receiver and freezing barrel not so great. Followed other's reccomendations in the reviews. I warn you that this is a sure way to get the barrel seized halfway in. I virtually ruined the breech face trying to dislodge it. Was cursing the entire time figuring I just ruined a good barrel because I was too lazy to go get some fine emery cloth like the manufacturer recommends. Just follow the instructions and it works well with a snug fit and at most a couple of soft blows with a rubber mallet.

Excellent quality barrel. Have a Tactical Solutions rifle and liked it so much that I bought a second barrel for my original 10/22 that I have had since the 80s. Barrel is a bit oversize for snug fit. So, do what the others have said, stick the barrel in the freezer for about 30min and put the receiver in the oven at low heat 200F for about 30 min. Put the oven mits on, and with a small piece of wood on the ground to rest the receiver against and you sitting in a chair/sofa edge, you can press fit the barrel into the receiver by hand with no tools needed. Did not want to pound on a new barrel even with a rubber mallet so did it this way without a hitch. You get an honest 5 minutes before things cool/warm up and then it is stuck in there pretty tight, so work fast once you put the two together.

I was astonished when I pulled this thing out of the package and felt how light it was. It weighs less than a standard factory barrel!....which is already ultra light (right at 16oz I believe). I have a Yankee Hill 'mite' suppressor that weighs 2.9oz and together that makes it under 18oz. So far I've shot CCI 40grn hp Sub Sonics & Velocitors, Federal 38 & 36grn hp, Aguila 30grn hp, and Aguila 60grn SSS subsonics...I was somewhat concerned about a baffle strike with the 60 grainers but after shooting 20-30rds without any keyholing, I was confident they were stabilizing well enough and ran them with the suppressor, which I must say, is scary quiet. The sound of the bullet impacting game or a target makes more noise than the actual firing. I'm not going to throw a bunch of numbers out there, but I will say that everything across the board seems to shoot really well except for the 30 grain high velocity aguila hp ammo which made a couple, rather wild, 3-4" groups @ 50yds. The rifle used has a standard factory Ruger receiver and trigger with a Hogue stock and 3x9 VX-1. Despite the cost, I'm very pleased with this purchase.
