The UltraDot Matchdot Red Dot Sight was designed for competition shooting by champion competition shooters. It features 4 different reticle sizes for shooting at different distances and at different types of targets, and the brightness is adjustable via an 11 position rheostat. There is also no need to worry about reliability as the Matchdot is very rugged and can withstand the heaviest recoil. The UltraDot Matchdot is covered by a lifetime factory warranty.

I ordered a MatchDot for ...

I ordered a MatchDot for my Browning Buckmark target .22 for use in bullseye competition. It mounted easily, sighted in quickly, and has proven to be an outstanding value. Visibility of the red dot is excellent even in the brightest sunshine. With Eley ammunition from a sandbag rest at 50' range, it will consistently allow groups that are one ragged hole. Cannot ask for better performance from a red dot sight at any price, let alone one priced this reasonably.

Received the scope and the dot looked like a squashed bug. Had several friends look at it and they all agreed it was not round and clear, at all. Sent it to Larry's Guns (the manufacturer's rep in the US) and got it back more than a month later with a note saying "it's within specifications (not right, just "within specifications)." They went on to say that I probably had an astigmatism that caused me to see it improperly; I don't have an astigmatism, I've had a cyloplegic refraction exam during the last year. Even if I did have an astigmatism, why did every person that I showed the scope to say it looked bad? I guess they all have astigmatisms too. Don't buy this scope...the company's lifetime warranty is not worth the paper it's written on.

Update from purchase two years ago

I originally purchased this scope a little more than two years ago for shooting in Bullseye competition. During that time it performed flawlessly. About a month ago, the site started fading in and out and the dot took on the shape of a tree leaf. I called UltraDot and was told to send the scope back for evaluation. The representative emailed me when the scope arrived and informed me about two weeks later that a part needed replacing. Over the course of the next six weeks several emails were sent indicating the part had to come from Japan (and the tsunami) was having an impact. Then an email was sent indicating a shipment was to arrive at the end of October and Ultradot would inform me if the part was in the shipment. Finally an email was sent indicating the part was not on the shipment, however, because of the long wait Ultradot was sending me a brand new replacement scope. Ultradot stood by their product and were informative and made good by sending a new scope.

I have three Ultra-dot Match Dot scopes. So that said, I suppose you can imagine all the following verbiage will be singing the praises of this fine scope.So as not to disappoint: This is a very fine flexible pistol aiming scope. I have used this on all of my Bullseye pistols with great success. In addition I have mounted it on a 44 Magnum Dan Wesson as well as a 38 SuperComp Brazos Open gun. Can it take recoil? Yes it can. Are the rings good? Yes they are. Does the aim point change when you change dot size (there are 4 dot sizes, which helps in outdoor competition in the bright sun). The aim point does not move with dot size changes in mid group. I have achieved .25" groups at 25 yards with 45 ACP from rest, so this scope, when married to a fine target pistol will bring out the best in the pistol and ammunition.I think it would be fine for an AR type rifle as well.You just cannot get better than this. The batteries last me an entire shooting season plus. I have left it running for 6 days (forgot to turn it off) and the scope just keeps on tickin'.I would give this scope 6 stars but Midway limits me to just 5.I do wish it were offered in all Black or all Silver. Perhaps they do offer these colors but I have not seen them. Anyway it is a very attractive scope.

After being extremely pleased with a Match-Dot on my Mini-14, I opted for a second Match-Dot for my Ruger Mark III pistol. It took less than one 10-round magazine to sight in at 25 yards, and I've found this red dot to be an ideal optic for the Mark III. I paired it with some Leupold quick-detach rings, and I can rapidly transition between the Match-Dot and my iron sights...a great setup. Don't waste money on chintzy red dots...this one is the one to get.

Mounted this on my Ruger ...

Mounted this on my Ruger .357. took all of 5 minutes to zero. Put 150 rounds through it and it kept zero. The multiple brightness and dot size settings make it's ability to customize for your preference excellent.

I placed the matchdot on a Dpms rifle .308, it was clear and a nice clean dot. I was able to keep a 2 inch group at 130 yards. I was surprised on the quality for the price, I have been looking for a red dot for awhile and think this one matches some of the pricier ones. I would highly recommend it to all.

I purchased this scope to mount on my Colt Trooper Mark III to shoot indoor mathces with. I used a Weaver 304 mount. The rings that came with the scope would not fit. The center part of the scope is just long enough so that slots in the mount will not align with the rings. I finally found that Weaver makes an extended mount. Once this was installed, the scope fit perfectly. Great scope for all conditions -- outdoors or indoors.

This is a great optic and is very high quality. Unlike most red dots, it has very little tint, which makes it easier to see your target. The included sun shade and polarizing filter are very handy. The only thing I didn't like about it was the silver body, but that was easily remedied. I find myself using the 4 MOA dot the most, but the 2 comes in handy for precision work.

I purchased this scope several weeks ago for my sons S&W M&P 15-22 rifle and we finally made it to the range today. I was completely satisfied with this scope, especially how fast and easy I was able to sight it in with a few clicks and have my 10 year old son shooting the center out of the middle of the target. He really enjoyed shooting and this MatchDot made it more fun and enjoyable for him. Of all of my scopes this one has been the easiest to sight in and put rounds on point with few rounds expended. This is a great scope!

The clarity, versatility and dependability are unmatched in a scope at this price. It comes with everything, including dust caps but the rings are a little high. I mounted mine with Weaver 30mm low det rings (#49121). A++++
