I did not use these in an ...

I did not use these in an Air Gun. I used these to experiment with quiet loads in .223 and 5.56 for training and a Rat problem on the farm. Yes we have used .22 (Shorts and LR) on the Rat problem. The wife and I just wanted to get more trigger time on the AR (ArmaLite M15A2).In an AR I don't recommend using a primer only. A lot of .223 - .22 Pellet conversions do this, but I found it to leave too much residue from the primer. A little bit of powder helps make a better burn if you seat the pellet tight enough. These Pellets worked great when loaded with a small rifle primer, plus 1-5 grains of IMR 4198. To size the neck, a Lee Collet sizing die was used with the expander removed. Just becasue I said 1 - 5 Grains worked for me, do not jump right into 5. Start at 0.3 grains and work up. ALWAYS check the barrel for obstructions when testing loads, or if the pellet comes lose (You can tell becasue you will be able to shake gun powder out of the barrel).Now that we covered all that, this are excellent pellets that hit hard with the steel core. I have had the pellets mushroom and the core penetrate deeper.
