Midway sells another brand of these for 1.99, these seem to be made of a little harder metal. Here's the trick to getting them to go on easy. Use axle grease. That's it. I tried oil and went to war with one, next one with grease went on smooth,

These little rings are fantastic. Ever buy that really cool flash suppressor or compensator and the darned thing did not index correctly? Well, this is the solution to that problem. Add a little bit of heat and it splits into 5 shim-like crush washers allowing you to get that perfect indexing. Plus, when installed it looks seamless, and that is a bonus for aesthetics to any build. Having a decent supply in your shop can save time and many headaches.

Peel washers work, and ...

Peel washers work, and they seem to be reusable, but they are a real pain compared to a crush washer. Depending on the muzzle device, a peel washer may not let you get it perfectly aligned.

I've taken to using the Peel Washers versus the Crush Type on my ARs that I frequently have to remove my Flash Hiders from to install my Screw on Suppressors. These allow me to easily align my A2 Flash Hiders and still be able to easily remove them when I need to with only a small 2in long wrench. If your mounting an FH as a one-time install and don't plan on removing it then go with the Crush Washer and use Vise Blocks to hold your barrel while you torque it down, if you're going to be removing your FH frequently and want it to be aligned when on then use the Peel Washer. Also, the tip about the match to separate the layers works really well. RemMax

Peel washers are the best ...

Peel washers are the best way to fit a A-2 flash hider to your threaded barrel. To separate the layers, first heat the washer with a match. The layers then come apart allowing for a true non-torqued fit of the FH to your barrel.

A must have for ...

A must have for installing a flash hider on a threaded barrel. Getting it to "peel" is not easy. Pliers to break the thing in half then check the screw on fit. I found using this in conjunction with item 333363 crush washer was the only way to properly install flash hider.

+1 to the heat method. I applied heat with a lighter, and used a utility knife to separate the layers I needed to remove.
