Perfect for those long range shots, the Speer Hot-Cor Spitzer has a higher ballistic coefficient and are designed to retain velocity over distance. This pattern, coupled with the Hot-Cor process which virtually ensure the elimination of core slippage, provide a bullet that offers deep penetration and excellent expansion, regardless of the range. This is not loaded ammunition.

Speaking of reviews, this bullet is listed in a test that took 15 years to complete, as the best all around bullet tested! The results were mostly from recovered bullets taken from Yukon moose, it was conducted by a bunch of Canadians helping out, and providing data to conduct the test. The bullets were shot from 35 Whelen , 350 RM and 358W . The conclusion in the end? Was that it performed right with the high dollar premiums, in actual testing. How could you ever get a better test than this?

Shoot less than an inch ...

Shoot less than an inch at 100 yrds in my custom Rem 700 358 Norma Mag w/ Shien 1-14 twist #5 bbl. Have yet to test it on game.

I have used this bullet now for about 5 years. It is still giving about 1" at 100yd. groups using Reloader 15 and Remington 9 1/2 primers. I get velocities of 2600+ with near max charges. It goes through a deer from front to back at 350yds. Hit properly, it kills deer on the spot. It also shoots as flat as a 30-06 out to 500yds.

I have been using this bullet in my 35 Whelen as an inexpensive bullet, that will still handle elk and bear. It has been nothing excellent in all regards to accuracy. I am using RL15, and getting speeds of 2575 pretty easily, and 1" groups at 100 yards. The best part is, I started shooting at 300 yards and the rifle is holding groups in the 2.4" range with no issues. With a 3" high zero at 100, I am about 9" low at 300. Very suitable for elk. I plan on shooting it into water filled milk jugs shortly to see how the bullet holds up, but I don't think there will be many issues. Overall I am very pleased with the bullet, great speed, accuracy and price! I am shooting a M700 CDL with the 24" barrel, so I am getting great speed out of the rifle. I can't wait to actually put on into a deer or whatever, hence only the 4 star rating.

A very accurate bullet from both of my .35 Whelen's. Very heavily constructed. Shot a 425 lb Oryx broadside at 100 yards, animal gave no sign of a hit and turned and trotted off. I followed and got another shot at about 100 yards, he turned and trotted off. Found him dead about 150 yards off under a tree. Both bullets had hit right at the shoulder line, penetrated the lungs but did not expand. Exit holes looked like entry holes. I have switched to another brand of 200gr psp to get faster expansion. Great bullet for deep penetration.

I use this bullet exclusively on my 35 Whelen. It is accurate and deadly. At the range I was vaporizing clay pigeons on the berm at 201 yards, never missed with these. I have taken 3 deer with these. The first was a frontal neck shot that I thought I missed as it was on the ground before my rifle recovered from the recoil. The second one was a bit too rearward on a broadside shot, but it too hit the ground straightaway and there was a large bit of flesh protruding from the exit wound. Both of these shots were from about 80 yards.The third was at frontal shot, into the brisket and it stopped in the upper rear leg after carving a tunnel all the way down the length of the doe. This was about 50 yards and there were small twigs in the way and it didn't faze this bullet at all.I have complete confidence in the lethality and accuracy of this bullet. AND, the price ROCKS!!!!

Tough bullet when deep penetration is needed. I shot a 300# hog in the chest and the bullet exited just above the hip. Not too shabby. Good close range bullet for .358 Winchester.

This is a follow-up review for this year. This bullet has continued to perform flawlessly. I've shot four wild hogs in the last month with this one. Everyone of them has dropped where they stood with only one bullet being recovered. It passed through both shoulders (bones and all) of a 120 pound sow and continued into a sow facing perpendicular to the first. It entered the second sow through the head and it came to rest the lung cavity, it fell out when we were cleaning the sow. Both hogs dropped dead. The bullet was intact and weighed 149 grains after penetrating all of that bone and flesh. Spectacular performance from a 35 Whelen with a velocity of 2,500 fps.

I have just bought this bullet and tested it in my 35 Whelen for accuracy. With my hand loads, it shoots between .7 in. and 1.0 in. consistently at 100 yds. At 250 yds it seems to be about 2 in. Very accurate. I tried three different loads with it. All showed the same accuracy. All were using RL 15 and Remington primers and brass.

This is my bear ...

This is my bear protection bullet in my .358 blr. I am getting 2,400 fps. With a compressed IMR 4895 load with a 2.830 coal. I was sold on this bullet when C. Boddington (G&A mag.) shot a large Shiras moose with it. Superior ammo makes a custom load w/this bullet too. Don't let "sand box ballistics" deter you from this bullet. Many Alaskans are very fond of this affordable bullet.
