Purchased for a full size M&P and use it for my compact as it fits both perfectly. Locks both guns in tight but not too tight. This is my go to holster for everything from carrying to range duty. I have three Fobus holsters and they are top quality.

Perfect fit for the M&P40 ...

Perfect fit for the M&P40 and the M&P9c. On the compact the end of the slide is flush to the bottom of the holster and the full size hangs down past the holster end by a half of an inch. Draw speed is smooth and fast with retention tension solid enough to hold the gun in place during normal activity. The back side of the paddle is covered in a soft rubber that grips your hip, and unlike another brand out there, you can actually get the holster off without a lot of effort if you need to take it off (With an U.M.'s I once had to go into a restroom and about take my pants off to get the holster off!).

SUPERB item. Fits my M&P9c perfectly with no wobble or loosenes. I've turned it upside down, wiggled it, etc and the pistol stays nice and tight but it is still easy to draw when necessary. Fits nice and tight to the body so very good for CCW. Fits both the regular and compact sizes well. Just enough of a tilt for easy draw and easy to re-holster. Overall I'm VERY happy with this holster.
