Sierra Varminter Bullets deliver the performance and consistency needed in the demanding sport of varmint hunting. These thin-jacketed, soft core bullets were designed for use in cartridges such as the 22 Hornet, 22 K-Hornet, and 218 Bee at muzzle velocities between 2600 and 2900 fps. These short bullets easily stabilize in barrels with a 1 in 16" twist. These varmint bullets also perform very well at velocities up to 3500 fps out of medium capacity cartridges such as the 222 Remington and 223 Remington. This is not loaded ammunition.

I used this bullet in ...

I used this bullet in loads for my old German Mannlicher style rifle chambered for the Vierling round (a forerunner of the .22 Hornet) This rifle has a twist of about 1 in 14" and a 26" barrel. Using 10 grains of H4198, I found that, in comparison with the Hornady 45 grain spitzer, the Sierra consistently grouped a half inch smaller at 100 yards than the Hornady in this rifle.

I use this bullet with Remington cases, Lil' Gun powder and Winchester Small rifle primers in my H&R single shot 22 Hornet with a Bushnell Banner 4-12X40mm scope. This setup is absolutely deadly out to 150 yards! Best 3 shot 100 yard group so far is .375"! Any predator up to the size of a coyote that takes one of these slugs with this load in the "boiler room" out to 150 yards is toast! I highly recommend this bullet for the 22 Hornet.
